The SS sport shortage makes a bit more sense in the context of them wanting to clear out any and all earlier movement models before stocking those with the new movement. Makes it a cleaner break in terms of sales and inventory tracking, and discourages potential discounting on the older movement models as there would be no stock to discount. Wouldn’t surprise me if they were essentially stockpiling the new movement models in warehouses now before release.

I would initially think that yes for like a month or two. But if the dry streak continues then the 48 hour subs will only be a slight cheaper than the 72 hour ones (given if the hulk is not discontinued).
Secondary market prices will settle and then we shall see ... too many variables to predict now.

I believe so.

You forgot to add the discontinuation of the SD 43 Red Line and BLNR.

The movement is going to change. It’s inevitable. The new GMT already has the longer power reserve, which can be easily translated into the Sub.

Add the crown between the Swiss Made on the dial + updated movement and Rolex will be done with it for the Sub. That in itself will create enough hype for increase demand and sales.

The rest you suggested are a crab shoot.

Some I got from the internet and some I heard from a guy who knows a guy. So I don't know which is true if any.

1) the sports line will all get upgraded to a 72 hour power reserve. (YM, sub, GMT, etc.)
2) production of SS will be increased significantly
3) Yellow gold models production will be cut back significantly.
4) Rolex is working on a system to counter the grey market, they will require every watch (from 2019 - 2020 and on) you sell to be registered at an AD or service center and the current owner to be listed in the system. If not then Rolex will refuse service and maintenance to the watch (the idea is also to combat stolen watches etc.)
5) countries with many AD s and AD s that will be cought selling to dealers will be revoked and given to countries with few AD s.
6) prices will increase 5-7% across the range. (UK and Sweden maybe even more)
7) two tone models will be scarce ( artificial price hike)
8) new dials on sports models.

Again this are rumours that I came across and heard. I dunno which or if any are true. Just thought I would share. Do with it as u wish.

Have you heard any rumours ? List them below.
where did you hear these? Is this some sort of a wish list you came up with or someone told you? Thanks.

As stated at the start, some I found on the internet, some on YouTube and some from a guy who knows a guy that works there.

As I said these are rumours... don't know what true or if anything is true.

I have heard that Rolex will introduce a SS variant of a previously PM-only watch that was widely panned and never a big seller. It will instantly become the "it" watch and sell in the aftermarket for double its MSRP, or about the same price as it previously went for in PM after discount.

Yea, the movement is going to change but it wont really change the price point of the Hulk. History has shown that it sometimes raises the demand even more for the older model. The reason being the watch is already more accurate and robust than anyone cares about and the extra power reserve isnt that much of a real world improvement.

SS Smurf - (and then Rolex can send all of the WG Smurf owners black dials so they can be different)

I have been seeing more “incoming Hulk” threads than we did in the past.

So, may be some truth to increase in stainless steel production

A new Rolex dial app for the Apple watch. Unfortunately, it's impossible to get... leading grey market hackers to charge outrageous prices to upgrade your software.

Supreme secrecy is, unfortunately, also prevalent w ADMP. In the worst possible way.

Karnak the magnificent says that changes will be announced in the future times. These changes will be designed to benefit Rolex and provide for the heirs of Hans Wilsdorf.

JayBlack: Reflecting back, I think your thread, 4 days ago, about "Finding true love - just a funny poll to pass the time :)" was your defining post. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=623965

Put me down for the new House Dweller.

I hope it has a three-minute egg-timer.

I'm frothing at the mouth already.

Rolex will be offer a selling package, one SS model must sell together with one PM model,no more SS model will be sold as individually in 2019.

I really don't think Rolex cares about the watches that are stolen. If a Rolex gets stolen than the owner of the watch will have to buy a new one, either through there insurance or outright.
