No resistance

Was winding my watch this morning & all of a sudden the resistance gave way,
now stem just goes round & round. Second hand had just started to tick & then nothing. Have not had a problem since day one, purchased new, was serviced in '08. 2002 Explorer II

Any feedback opinions appreciated...

Cheers, Paul

My guess would be the mainspring broke. Needs service now for sure. Couple of great folks on this forum that are experts and can handle the service, or the RSC.

Well my suggestion is to get it in for a repair - us guessing from far away won't pin it down. Although I agree with the earlier comment by Andy.

Did the service in '08 include a barrel or mainspring?

Sure way to tell is if the watch ticks backwards when the watch is gently agitated to allow the balance to swing. Then you know for sure the mainspring is gone without opening the watch.

Thanks all for feedback, guess it's off to service for me...

Thanks again, Paul
