My Sky D Made Me Do It!!!

Anyone else? Today I parted with both my DJII with blue sticks and my 16700 GMT. I must admit with the Sky Dweller they felt redundant. Maybe I'm not as much of a watch pig as I thought. Anyone else driven to parting with watches because of their SKy D upsetting the apple cart?

Good move I totally agree a blue stick DJ .... why would you ever want to wear it again when you have a blue stick SkyD

Glad to se you're enjoying it Lee.

Personally I've had some near misses lately, and decided to move more slowly with aquiring and selling.

What sort of near misses. I've had some as well; a 16600 that died because of hurricane Harvey and a BBN that was lost by USPS in transit.

Wow to to hear Lee! I hope they were insured.

Recently (just this past week) I saw the new PAM 729 in Florence and was so taken with it, in nearly caved and bought it. It would've meant flipping my DBlue or SD43. I slept on it and also listened to some of the forum members here who talked some sense into me.

I tend to get very excited and impulsive with new releases. I'm not sure why, but I need to slow down

Well on the 16600 the seller begged out as the hurricane was striking and refunded my money; he felt he wouldn't be able to ship for quite a while. On the BBN it's still in process but the refund will come.

I echo your sentiment.

Overall the decision rationally makes sense but the GMT is such a versatile watch. Truth to be said you have other watches in your collection that can make up for the GMT.

I’m not surprised the DJ went but I’d have sat on the GMT for a few months just to be sure, especially if it was a full set and you’ve had it from new. Could be a tough one to replace if you end up regretting later.

The GMT really hasn't got much wrist time as of late. I'm certain it was the right choice for me. I bought it a number of years back. At the time I bought it it was a temporary grail but didn't last. Someone else will have an opportunity to enjoy it.

SkyDweller in SS is a great watch.

Am no purist so don't get the five digit hype compared to the ceramic maxi cases.

I don't have a Sky Dweller but I had two DJ II watches and I would do the same if I had owned a Sky Dweller because it's an upscale model and comes with a proper sized crown too.
I can buy a DJ 41 but I don't want it, instead I went for the Submariner 114060 because I have set my mind to the Sky Dweller

It would be hard not to; it's a great watch and serves the purpose of multiple pieces as evident by the sales.

Sold my DJ II with rhodium and arabics. My first Rolex but I was able to get a good price for it and easy sale to a friend. The proportions were always a bit off on that watch and there isn't room for two watches with a flutted bezel. I will miss the Arabic numerals but have a breitling titanium chrono avenger with arabics. I definitely still want to add a two tone GMT

DJ is a classic look, although DJII is admittedly the ugly cousin.

Newcomer SkyD looks similar but with too much going on inside the bezel.

Don't like it one little bit.

So got this plus some cash in return. I've been wanting an SD for a long time so now it's fait accompli.

Stopped for a bite after getting it sized.

It may help even more to go visit an optician?

Actually, I also don't like the Sea Dweller. Too bulky. But as it's a simpler design than the Sky Dweller I could live with it.

Only I couldn't, really, as I had to ditch my Sub Date after 4 weeks due to its overwhelming monotone dullness. The SD has that in buckets full too.

I've been toying with the idea of a Skydweller and if I were to get it I would totally sell my BLNR. So I get where you're coming from.

Btw your SkyD has be salivating. Good thing they are pretty hard to get and adding my name to the waitlist now will take forever.

Have you tried on the SD4K; I had a SubC and the SD4K sits much better on the wrist. I couldn't tolerate the 114060. I might add that my eyes are fine without need of glasses for any normal reason but you could get your recto-cranial inversion fixed. Thanks again for sharing. Out of curiosity is this something you like to do for some particular reason, going around and screwing with other peoples threads. I sure as hell don't get it. Maybe you could explain your rational to me.

Let's cut all this relentless negativity and thread-crapping, it is getting very tiresome and not the TRF way. Just stick to positive comments or no comment at all, ie the new born baby rule.

Between our two "Watches" I think there's an "Otis" song.

Back on track. Great pickup. Did you not fancy the 43? The sky d suits you well so thought you might go for the larger one?
