My mother uses it daily for her rheumatism and hernia. It works like a charm without any nasty side effects or health issues that regular pain killers might bring.

I gave it to our dog after she had surgery last year and have kept it up when we have to leave her for a bit. She seems extremely satisfied with the effect. :)

Shockingly , Japan just legalized it. 100 % CBD. No THC allowed. Love it. Just makes you feel for lack of a better word, mellow. Couple drops under the toungue. Feel great.

Any recommendations for brands or strengths? Mom has severe arthritis along with other issues and can't handle pain pills.

Not sure where to start. I see everything from on Amazon to Independent shops in varying strengths and full spectrum vs isolate? Huge swing in prices an bottle sizes too. Don't know all the lingo.

I am sure some must be better than others. Not looking for snake oil.

I have been looking at CBD oil as well as it has been in the news a lot in Indiana lately. The governor just made it legal apparently.

My wife has back and knee pain that just won’t go away and I sleep like due to neck pain. Have friends that have tried it for all sorts of pain and sweat by it.

I too am afraid of buying some junk from a snake oil salesman. Just need to do my research from a credible source. And buy from one as well.

when you find the brand I would be interested to know as well, wouldn't mind trying it myself for neck pain.

I won't bore you with all the details. My wife was born with Scoliosis and had 2 rods implanted on each side of her spine. Now in her early 60's she has disc issues and basically a thick tangle of arthritis. Been on opioid based pain meds for the last 15 years. I year ago her pain specialist introduced the idea of CBD oil. She decided to try it. The results have been nothing but spectacular. Her pain has remained well managed and she's lost all the very negative side effects from the opioids. This stuff is fantastic.

She buys from an authorized provider in Canada. If your in the USA I'm not sure where you can get it but don't give up looking. It will be well worth it.

You my friend may hold the best answer. Ask your friends what they use. Maybe start there? Next maybe try a state that sells legal mj. They probably sell 50 state legal CBD oil too. Maybe they could school us all.

If anybody in the USA can recommend a good CBD oil, I’d appreciate it. It looks like there is hemp cbd oil and marijuana cbd oil. Not sure what the difference is from a practical standpoint.

My mom has FM and has tried marijuana and says that it helps her, but she doesn’t like the feeling of being high. She is very sensitive so even the smallest sensation will throw her off. It seems like CBD oil could be the ticket.

As a primary care, preventive medicine and medical marijuana physician, I routinely recommend CBD to my patients as primary or secondary therapy for a variety of conditions (insomnia, anxiety, autoimmune conditions such as lupus, RA, crohn’s disease, etc). CBD (and other Cannabinoids, there are over 140 different Cannabinoids) modulate CB1 and CB2 receptors found throughout the body and can affect inflammation, pain, immune function, bone growth, anxiety, depression, nausea, etc. Different cannabinoids have different effects, but CBD does not have any psychoactive effects (no “high”). In fact, CBD can counter the psychoactive “high” effects triggered by THC.

CBD oil works, but like any medication it has varying efficacy for everyone (so dosing varies per individual). Don’t expect a miracle, but depending on the condition it can significantly help. And yes, some people need THC for optimal therapy.

Here are a few CBD brands that are of good quality (I can’t yet post links so you’ll have to make do with some typing of web adresses).

It can help when too high though, mellows it out. Blocks more thc being absorbed by the receptors.

What's the recommended dose? The concentration ranges pretty broadly.

CBD oil comes in capsules, tinctures, topical cream and inhalation (vape). Oral administration (capsule or tincture) has an onset of approximately 1 hour and can last 8-12 hours. Inhalation has an onset of 30-90 seconds and can last 2-3 hours (good for nausea, acute anxiety).

In regards to dosage, I always recommend starting low and going slow. You can’t overdose yourself on CBD, but if you take doses that are higher than needed this therapy may get very expensive! Most people will find a therapeutic dose of between 5mg to 50mg of CBD oil orally twice a day.

My recommendation is to purchase a relatively low dose 300mg tincture (CBD oil strength is designated as total mg per bottle, kind of a strange way to designate dosage but that’s what the industry standardized) and start with 1/2 a dropper (5mg) twice a day. Titrate up by 1/2 dropper every 2-3 days until you feel a response. So day 1-3 is 5mg twice a day, day 4-6 is 10mg twice a day, etc.

I like having patients start a relatively low concentration before committing to a high concentration because, for one, the initial cost is lower and because they may not like the flavor, or may have a side effect such as reflux, headache, etc. If this is the case, we have them switch oils (and usually switch manufacturers).

CBD oil typically costs $30-40 for a 300mg bottle. The higher the total bottle mg, the more expensive the bottle (but once someone discovers their therapeutic dose, buying the higher concentration bottles is more cost effective).

Do the creams have any benefit? Or is it just the sublingual's?

I take no sides on the inevitable arguments about hemp-based products. The topic has been weaponized by legal and other advocates and detractors. But here is some info to consider...

Pure CBD oil is a product that I believe is legal as a dietary supplement in all 50 states in US. It’s different than cannabis oil that contains THC. As far as staying away from hemp products due to drug testing (like our military member alluded) there is the same risk eating poppy seed bagels.

The real issue is whether you’re getting a safe product. Regulation of dietary supplements can skirt the more rigid FDA inspections. If the manufacturer chooses FDA approval then it’s a better option for those seeking a supplement with a safe, highest concentration of CBD.

When choosing which CBD oil fits your needs best, there are a few factors you’ll want to consider: CBD concentration, whether you prioritize the presence of hemp plant material, and budget requirements. High concentration CBD is the most expensive line of product per bottle but if you dose accurately (like the doc said) it is more cost effective per dose.

One caveat is whether the source plant material, the hemp itself, is safe. Some sources are contaminated by pesticides and may be unhealthy unless the oil is properly processed, concentrated and filtered. For example, raw CBD hemp oil contains all the natural plant material found in the hemp plant at harvest. It’s usually the cheapest and lowest concentration but may also carry “unhealthy components” like I’m talking about.

Higher CBD concentration oils have been decarboxylated and refined via a filtration process to remove plant material. This is priced higher of course.

You can expect to spend from $50 to $400 per tiny bottle for the product based on different levels and quality. Until there is better quality control in the industry you may want to stay away from the “home brew” products you’ll find on the internet.

Nothing I’ve said is a secret, just do your research.

Please don’t take my question the wrong way. Not casting aspersions.

How, in the space of a day or so, did you go from needing knowledge to making recommendation of a particular source and discount code?
