Wristclean?

Howdy,

Does anyone know if this product is safe for the black painted surfaces of the Explorer II? I'm worried it would break them down over time.

Take care,

Ruddiger

I have tried it but regular old dawn soap works the best for me and is also the cheapest.

I'm not sure as I haven't used the product. That being said I don't intend to and here's why:

1. I don't see any list of ingredients - and that worries me.
2. I use a plant-based cleaner (LOC Multi-purpose cleaner) for my Air King that works great. This particular cleaner is FANTASTIC at getting out ink stains from clothes or permanent marker from countertops - so if I had an Explorer II, I would not use it for fear of removing the black paint.
3. Some very mild dish detergent like dawn or Palmolive will work fine if I'm being completely honest. The cleaning agents in these soaps are much less caustic than the salts on your skin, so there's no real need to stress over a different product. Just give it a very thorough rinsing and you're all good! And point of order - if I ever run out of my LOC - I'll just use dawn.

I use wristclean, I find it to be excellent- better than soap as it seems to evaporate and wash off with water much easier than soap, leaving the watch literally sparkling and looking brand new.

I am sure it is safe for the painted numerals on the bezel- they would sell it with a warning otherwise.

What the hell is everyone doing that they need special chemicals and cleaners for their watch?
I wear my watches all the time. I wore my Explorer II for a one week mountain camping and hiking trip. Never took it off. When I got home, a dish of warm water with a drop of dish soap and a soft toothbrush and it was clean as a whistle in about 45 seconds.

Johnson's Baby Shampoo. It doesn't leave the residue that some dishwashing liquid brands may leave behind.

If dish washing liquid left a residue, don't you think that it would be unsafe to eat the food off your plates and silverware and drink from coffee cups and glasses? You would definitely taste it and it would be bad. This is silly. I have used good old Dawn for years on certain hand washable kitchen eating utensils and on every Rolex I have owned over a period of some 30 years. Zero issues!

Exactly that no need for any of these FooFoo sprays, soap and water is what Rolex themselves recommend.

Wristclean?

The abrasion from daily wear underneath long sleeved shirts, jackets, etc will cause more wear on the enamel paint than any cleanser in Wristclean.

Just be sure you rinse off any cleanser you use.

From personal experience I cannot see any difference using WC over Dawn.

"Residue?" Nope; not from Dawn, and BTW I have never seen residue from ANY dish-washing product.

(Disclaimer: I am in no way associated with Dawn or its parent company, merely an end-user.)

Like I’ve always said, a quick lick of the crystal wipe with 100% cotton t shirt, voila, good to go.

The have even used Dawn in the past to clean wildlife birds that were covered in crude oil from spills. What does that say about the product?

+1 for Varaet. I was using soap and water before but then thought what the heck, let's try out something different. Haven't been back to soap and water since.

I use it on my watches that are on leather straps, or bracelet versions that are not really that dirty. Works great.

Another Wrist Clean user here. Usually once a week. I save the Dawn for the brake dust on my car rims.

no idea why its so polarizing... some people prefer a certain kind of soap to clean their cars this is no different.

I’ve been using this for over 20 years. I almost clean my watches almost every time I wear them. Never have I had any issue with fading or damage. This product gets the gold and stainless steel squeaky clean. I highly recommend it.

I use wrist clean, I give my watch and bracelet a good spray and leave it for about 5 minutes, the dirt just drops off, another squirt, quick brush from one of the soft wrist clean brushes, rinse under water, dry and polish, looks fabulous.

Like someone said above, it is just a different solution, use what you want. I spent a lot of money on my watch, if I spend a couple of quid more on the cleaner, I'm fine with that. Having said that, I have not read on the back of any washing up liquid that it works well on high value wrist watches or for that matter, that the chemicals used are safe for cleaning watches.
