How do you store your rotations or display your pieces?

Hello All,

How do you store your timepieces if you rotate through them every few days? Multiple watch Winder, in the box on display?

Especially if you have housecleaning maids every week or so...

Forget about 'displaying' and focus on securing. Simply put, you need a safe.

When they're not on my wrist, they're out of sight. I visit the safe deposit box at the bank quite frequently to switch pieces out in my rotation. I don't believe in winders or display boxes - I store my pieces in the travel cases when not in use.

Could you elaborate more on the safety deposit boxes at the bank please? Sure volume alone is beginning to make me inquire about this option but I haven’t started my research yet. I’d be curious to learn a bit about the process of securing through the bank.

I also feel as if I’d have withdrawals of not having my watches easily available, especially as much as I fiddle with them. Do you miss not having your collection around?

Thanks

Considering the safe deposit box at the bank myself. Problem is, I don’t know when I’d have adequate time to change them out unless I just went around lunch hour, but then I’d be changing watches mid-day which is odd I think. Interested in seeing other people chime in on this

I keep them in a display case. I understand having a safe, but I live in a safe neighborhood and don’t believe my house would be broken into. And even if it was, they are covered with insurance.

I’ve never understood getting a safe deposit box for my watches.

I have my watches in a small safe at home but when not in the safe they are in a very discrete watch box that won't really catch anyone's attention.

I keep most of mine on 3 quad winders. The rest just lay around on the bedroom TV stand or on a shelf by the window. We live on the 12th floor of an apartment building with 24/7 security. I doubt anyone would rob us.

For us who own PPs I assume we all live in nice decent neighborhoods. But this whole “I’m exempt from crime” mentality is what keeps burglars in business.

I live in Miami and even in the most prestigious neighborhoods here there’s plenty of stories to make me a very careful owner.

There’s also plenty stories of apartments being ransacked when owners are away.

Long story short, whatever is not on my wrist is in the safe. And I’m looking to get a deposit box when traveling.

You guys should look at the platona robbery story here. Quite eye opening.

That's amazing!

Where do you get one of these? I can't seem to find it on their website so was it a custom order?

Thanks!

I think it’s now discontinued, was a standard item. You might find one still at dealers.

I would also recommend Buben & Zorweg - wonderful winders. Their Safemaster 4 is perfect for both winding and being secure in a safe.

I own a Watch safe. I have watches on winders. If I am going to be gone, the watches go into the safe.

This was my thought and what I do. I do have a safety deposit. It only when I go for long trips and no one will be at home. The bank is close, don’t know if going every 3 days is possible.

If you put a safe, I read it should be anchored to concrete meaning I would have to go down and switch which is sill more convenient than deposit box.

I have 5 watches and usually have one or two max at home, when the cleaning lady is here and if at that moment I have 2 watches I wear both, the others are always in the safe at the bank

Well when you have for much more than 100k in watches, plus you also have a safety deposit box for important papers at the bank, pretty stupid to keep them at home, knowing how insurances always try not to pay I wouldn't think they would easily pay you, and imagine if there is no sign of forced entry, I would think that they won't pay you at all...

The safe deposit box is not inconvenient for me at all. The box is literally across the street from my office, accessible Monday to Friday during business hours. I can go during a coffee break to switch a piece whenever I like. Even though I do have insurance, an alarm and I live in a building with 24/7 security, I still don't want to go through the headache.

I use a large and heavy safe for my more valuable pieces, but I have a perpetual calendar on its own watch winder. I have another winder I rotate my two every day bangers on (IWC Le Petit Prince Mark XVIII and Panerai Luminor Marina). I leave my golf watch, Apple Watch, and TAG Chrono to float around wherever they please.

mine are insured and since my insurance doesnt give me a discount for keeping them extra super duper safe i don't. None are in a safe and they are all usually out. Unless i go on vacation.

I pay to have them "accessible" and i don't see why i would lower their risk and limit my access to them, with no financial incentive to me. Cut my premium in half and sure, ill put them in a safe.

PVC ziplock bags, piled up in the safe.

I have a 6 watch winder built into custom closets and while the winder and the drawer can both be locked I've not used it in 5 or 6 years. A shame really but that's how it is, the safe if the only option.
