I personally think that gold, particularly yellow or rose gold, belongs on a strap, as an entire bracelet of gold is a lot of gold for me. I couldn't and wouldn't want to pull that off but many feel confident doing so. If that's you, go for it. And then I'd say that a Day Date is probably more versatile, as I don't think a Sub works with a suit, unless you're James Bond or a professional diver.

Depends on your wrist but an all rounder would be a gold sub

My wife wears a YG Sub 116618 and she wears it with casual tracksuit or when in a dress. Both look fantastic but I'm biased as I think a woman wearing a 'men's' watch is incredibly sexy. I digress slightly but I also had for a good while the rose GMT 116715 and that was worn with all attire and was awesome. Rose is very wearable as a daily. My next PM piece however will be a WG Sub smurf. Its individual enough to be recognised as a PM piece by those in the know but also under the radar as a 'normal' watch. Remember James Bond, probably one of the most iconic figures in a Tux, wore a diving watch so sports watches easily go with a suit IMHO.

I tend to agree, which is one reason I buy white gold versions with a bracelet. It's nicely under-the-radar, but the heft of the gold on your wrist is a delight. A private pleasure.
My choices, DD40 and 116509 Daytona. DD is best all-rounder.

IE: I’d wouldn’t wear a watch with a tux, and I’d only wear a 3 handed watch on leather as a true “dress” watch. To each their own....and as I said, especially in today’s world, both are very versatile. Tough, tough, choice...that’s why I’ve got both, and I’m blessed to be in that position.
Really well stated.

No tools just walk around and tell people if their work looks good or not. Usually tuck it under a long sleeve shirt or jacket.

I have very strong feeling about wearing a sub with a suit and tie. Can you do it, sure. However it’s certainly the worse choice for the job - like the complete opposite side of the fashion spectrum. The Daytona would be my choice as it has much more refined lines. SKy dweller is far to large for most men and doesn’t slide under a well fitted shirt cuff correctly. DD is a classic choice and can certainly be dressed down.

This. When I think of a gold watch, I think of a dress watch. A dress watch should be simple, not gaudy. Three hands at most, no complications, and on a strap. I don't consider a DD on a bracelet a dress watch, much less a gold sub. A dress watch doesn't have to be a Patek, Lange, or VC either. I have plenty of vintage Hamiltons, Bulovas, IWC's, and especially Omegas which fit the bill perfectly at 1/10 the cost of a gold sub. I was at a wedding recently where the best man was wearing a Panerai on a rubber strap with a Tux, yuk!!!!JMHO!!!!!!

To me, someone who isn't a fan of gold watches, this DD with Roman numerals is the one. An important detail for me is having the "IX" for "9" instead of a stick. I also prefer a white or black dial instead of gold.
