Why should I get a SD 4K?
Totally self indulgent post. I’ve been thinking about getting one of these and may have a deal closed soon. I have a 114060, but I saw several SD’s and DS’s on a recent trip and was mesmerized.

Err...I dunno? Do you want one? I have one but don’t really wear it and am probably going to flip it at some point. If you think you want a sub, you probably don’t want an SD.

Because Rolex took an awesome watch (submariner) and made it awesomer (sea dweller).
But in all seriousness, it is more true to the original Sea-Dweller and the shorter production run makes it a relatively unique Rolex to own. I find the proportions to be perfect and the history is intriguing. God Speed! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Let me ask you this? Why shouldn’t you get an SD4k?

Because it's awesome... And imo the best modern diver (most balanced) money can buy.

-60 second graduations on the bezel.
-More wrist presence. -Less common than the Sub. -More technical watch from what Rolex was able to do with it. -better proportions than the 114060 -dude it’s a sea dweller |

SD4K is the last in the true line reflecting the original design lines. It is the best they made before going over to the Sub reminiscent design with some Red ink to make it appear different.

Because it’s the best of both worlds - it gives a nod to the old with its case size, lugs, and matte dial yet has the new upgrades such as the ceramic bezel, the glidelock clasp....

Comparing to the Sub...
- Fully Graduated Bezel - Satin Dial - No Date Magnifier - Thicker Crystal - Deeper Case-back - Helium Escape Valve - More Shapely Lugs - More Shapely Cron Guards - Impressive Depth Rating - Less Common No-brainer for me, and has been since the day it was launched. The SD4K is a nice watch but I would not pay a primum for one. I prefer the 114060 ND Submariner-C if you are going 40mm. I prefer the SD43 for the size, bracelet, dial, red text and even the cyclops over the SD4K.

Agreed.... But if you are collecting subs and don't plan on selling the 114060. Then I would certainly add it to the collection :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Agree. I really don’t understand the fuzz on the SD4K. What bugs me is the date window without the cyclops - it’s unbalanced to the opposite 9 hour marker like the issue I have with the AP 15400. I prefer the 114060 with the perfect symmetry of the dial. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you really need to ask in a forum, you probably shouldn’t buy it.

It would be the perfect watch if they got rid of the helium escape valve. It’s close to perfection

I have a 114060 myself but the SD4K is a great piece made for a short time and will wear slightly smaller than an SD43
