What was your first Rolex?!

After getting my first Rolex on Sunday I am keen to know what everyone’s first Rolex was? Or if you are about to buy your first what is it going to be?

Mine was a Rolex Explorer :)

My Turn-O-Graph was my first. It was a gift from my late mother.

I bought the Hulk (grey) in April. It has always been my grail watch. The one I would buy to commemorate something memorable. After I got the Polar I decided to climb onto a list and wait. I didn't mind waiting. But I couldn't get on a list.

I reasoned that grey prices were only going one way and it was time to either go to the toilet or get off it! It was a bit soon after my first Rolex purchase but I thought it best to grab one while I could and take a comparatively light kicking. I don't regret it.

It was a toss up between the Sub and Exp II
TRF said if one and only ... go with Sub.
So I did.
Things changed after though.

The good ol sub. The watch that draws everyone into the Rolex sports collection imo. Oddly, I'm shying away from wearing it these days. In my mind currently, it's the starter Rolex. Im sure it's a phase, will probably have it on for 2 months straight sometime in 2019.

My first was a first gen DSSD. Bought it because I liked Rolex dive watches and the specs of the DSSD. I mean, water resistant to over a MILE??!! Had to have it! Once I wore it, however, I realized I didn't like the proportions. Put it back in the box and onto a closet shelf for several years. Went back to my Omega Seamaster and forgot about it. I finally decided to go for my 30+ year grail watch, the GMT Master BLRO, and worked out a straight up trade for a 16710 from a trusted seller on this forum. Haven't looked back!

I’ve had many watches since and some are flipped (even 116500 white) but this one is forever watch. It will passing down to my daughter when she is ready for mechanical watch.

What a beautiful watch. I wish it did not wear so small on me. I really love the explorer!
