Sheaffer Nostalgia FP! Just a sweet writer!

This Sheaffer Nostalgia is just a wonderful writer and it absolutely reproduces the characteristics of the Victorian fine nib FPs that I have had the pleasure of writing with. The nib is a medium flexy and just lovely to write with. Very nice and wet, which is rare for fine nibs. I wish more pen makers made them like this today. I would have a lot more pens and a lot less money!

The sample at the bottom is not my handwriting, but one I picked up on the web.

I recommend it highly.

That is a lovely pen Richard and nice to know it has a flexi nib.
I really would love to have a Sheaffer in my collection but the ones I have tried so far have really firm nibs and I have not enjoyed writing with them. I will have to have a look around at this type and also try a few more.
One of my favorties is this one. I love the look of the nib but sadly it is a very firm nib and I know I won't write with it!

Ian,

I have several of the Sheaffers with the Triumph nibs and even though they are very firm the 4 or 5 I have are very wet and expressive writers. That was a surprise which is why I kept acquiring them and will in the future. Not to mention they come in a lot of different styles and colors. You can also frequently pick them up with original box and papers and NOS.

They are not very expensive so you may just try one and see how you like it. I am like you, I love the way that nib looks which made me try it in the first place.

Sheaffer also makes FPs with a standard type nib in just about every flavor you can imagine. I particularly love their Flat Tops with date much earlier than the Triumphs.

The Sheaffer Balance with the two tone nib is very nice and a great writer.

Thanks so much for the great info Richard. I particularly like the last one in your pictures, it would match my Vac!
I am going to my pen club meeting on Thursday and the fellow who restores my vintage pens will be there (yeah, my Vac will be back!) I will ask him what he has in the Sheaffer line to try!

Hope all is well with you my friend.

Nice to know that this writes so well, it's also a very attractive pen!

Faith,

A Sheaffer would be a very inexpensive option for you. They can be found on eBay very reasonably.

Let me know if you are interested and I will help you find one.

Richard
