Is there a way to know a watch is 100% genuine?

So I'm going to buy from an AD (well, if any ever call me back) so I know all should be well.

Having said that, last year best buy sold me fake canon batteries (their staff had been swapping them out before putting them on the floor), an authorised Leica dealer tried to sell me a used camera (put in the wrong box by accident... hmm) etc.

I've heard some rolex fakes are now so good that it would take a true expect to tell, and that's not me!

So, if I go to an AD and I see the watch. Is there some way for me to be 100% sure it's legit?

If you buy from a Rolex AD you have no worries.

If from AD then real. If not then buy the seller and if older watch send to RSC for service. Watch will come back authenticated and with warranty

I can't imagine even the best fake having the crown etched in the crystal at 6 o clock.

It can well be, but it will overstate its welcome.

Warranty card matches rehaut serial on newer watches. Havent seen any fakes with that yet. Then caseback open.

That's probably not that hard to duplicate...

Yea the good fakes have been doing that for close to 10 years already. There also getting pretty close to matching the 3135 movement with even purple gears and blue para.
