£33,510 GBP for the Aquanaut Chrono VS £26,050 for the 5164

Quite a jump unless they will close the gap soon

yeah... 10am came and went and i didn't call my AD. I like it, just not enough to buy it.

Patek blew Rolex out of the water this year though, their releases were pretty boring.

I only like the basic black Sub/Sea Dweller and the white face Daytona nowadays. Both are classic pieces that can take a beating and fit great in any rotation. I’ve come to expect nothing Rolex releases is going to move me.

to each their own, but i cannot understand the jubilee bracelet on a GMT. A pepsi in SS and on an oyster bracelet maybe. I just dont get it.

When I first saw I thought...that's pretty nice! When I saw $43k I thought....might need to look for a 5164 after all. With all the speculation I thought they would introduce one but at this price point I will enjoy my 5167 and continue contemplating an upgrade to a 5164.

This aquanaut is honestly hard to look at. Will get the 5164 or wait for a chrono/travel-time aquanaut in 5 years time

Oh I didn’t say make me question them, I meant move me towards buying

I haven’t a clue why a jubilee belongs on anything but a Datejust, but hey, I’m sure people will eat this up.

It's in direct competition with a grey 5711 now

I'd not say that, but rather accepting the power of social media and the younger, trendier demographic. Rolex also gave us the BLRO and DB pretty much as has been demanded by the forums, so they are all listening now, even the "safe" brands.

I'm very happy with mine.

This one is less for the old forums and more the young Instas.

Exactly! We are truly in some kind of global gilded age to see pricing like this. I actually like the watch but you would be mad to buy this instead of a grey 57XX or *2* ceramic Daytonas. Mad!

Liking it. The accents give it a new flavor. Not sure the price is right for it. Maybe that is the way PP will keep away flippers??

I prefer the case to have more symmetry which I think I’m obsessed with.

I like it! What was msrp on the 5980? I don't think it is any more egregiously priced than any other patek. 5168/5711/5712 the list goes on.

As soon as these hit the market for 60k everyone will be jumping on the bandwagon. This is a textbook hate today, love tomorrow watch. My thoughts anyways.

43k?? I think this pushes the 5167 to 30k very quickly. Lol.

Agree, my quarrel is it’s too large for me. Otherwise, some playfulness which is nice to see

As an owner of the CE diver this chrono is cool and if I didn't already have the 5167/1A I would consider it... except for the price.

I do feel like they're making bad compromises now and chasing other brands in particular AP. Mr. Stern has said for a long time that he doesn't want Patek to be known as a one line brand like AP is with the RO yet we see him now adding a GC to the Nautilus line. Comparing RO PC like their all ceramic version from maybe a year or two ago, I would much rather have that version. Patek seems like they're playing catch up.

Now the 5270P salmon dial is what I expect from the brand but I'm not ready to consolidate my collection enough to move into a piece like that.

You could be right but I personally don't see the Aquanaut heading this far upmarket. Too many other choices, either retail or in the grey market. IMHO anyway...
