Please help in identifying of this ROLEX
Hello guys its my frist post here and I would like to ask for your help.
I'm about to purchase this Rolex watch for my collection (frist Rolex) and I would like you to help in identifying this watch. First of all is it original?? Second... I think it could be modified hence the bracelet seems off the period of the watch i.e. end links and clasp? Watch is claimed to be 6694 from 60's Attached photos of this watch. Many thanks in advance!!! Matthew |

Welcome to the forum! Can't comment too much on the band, looks a little bit too new to be period, could be a counterfeit. Now the watch itself and the movement look good to me, but hopefully others more qualified will jump in. Steve

Hi Matthew,
Welcome to TRF What you have there is a manual wind Oyster Date Precision 6694. Bracelet looks correct for this model and vintage, early 1960's. Any more opinions guys???

My advise is to have it authenticated when you make the buy. The mechanical Rolexes do not get as much $$ as the automatic ones. Look on Ebay for a comparison (NOT TO BUY) on the Rolex you want.
We have Steve here on the TRF who is a really good seller, that has old Rolex watches and you might do better with him. He only sells 100% authentic Rolex watches. Aftermarket parts are cheep and can make a Rolex worthless if used. The watch box is not Rolex, I guess you knew that. |

Yeah the price is just right and I want something vintage to start with Rolex as I looked around one thing triggers my mind is odd clasp and end links on bracelet as for the watch itself, as guys up above said the movement is all correct to me judging from the pictures. Here in Poland where I live there are not many vintage Rolex watches but a lot of fake "current" models around.

I would second that and in nice condition as well. The bracelet looks to be in exceptional condition. The ONLY doubt I have might be the end pieces but they are easily/cheaply fixed if wrong.....

Those end pieces on Ebay are under 100.00 USD, however you really need to know the real ones from the fake, I have caught some sellers claiming them to be authentic and they were fake. So reading up on Rolex watches will help in the long run. |

The head is good, from the what I can see on the pics.
Unfortunately, I second what Nicko said about the bracelet. I have seen that type of bracelet, aftermarket, being made. I am pretty sure that is not an original bracelet. Could you give us the clasp reference numbers? ......and welcome to the forum! |

Hey guys so I have the watch in my hands now and i found some odd differences to what I head read before about Rolex maybe you will help:
Serial no is 5730087 so it would make the watch 1978 and the dial has a "swiss" printed on the bottom instead of "t-swiss-t" the clasp no is D12 no 62523N.18 Any ideas? |
