FP Journe Service Costs
Hey everyone, i've recently become very interested in the fp journe chronometre bleu, but have heard varying stories about service costs for such a piece. i attempted to get some information from my AD, but they would only say that it depends on the piece and what needs to be done (so not really helpful). i was wondering what journe owners have experienced as far as routine service costs go. any input would be helpful.
thanks! (pic taken from the web) |

I was told $3500 by an owner for a basic service on that model.

I was just at the FP journe boutique looking at that exact watch, and while I couldn't quite convince myself to buy it on the spot it is truly unique and beautiful. I did inquire as to the service costs. and the boutique quotes 1800-1900 for a basic service. I didn't ask anything additional but my suggestion would be to simply call the boutique and ask.

It's all relative....

3500 for a Journe?? Well since no one else could service this brand, they could charge whatever they want...that is the price to pay to play.... Besides, would you take a Ferrari to a local Honda dealer for a service??? I think not..... |

Well I'll add what I've only heard.... 1200-1400. Problem I heard was the turn around time, 6-8 months on average. But IMO you won't find a much better looking watch.

That seems too high - even RM's new fixed price servicing model on much more complicated pieces like the 11 is "only" about USD3500.

There are only so many watchmakers on hand at FP, plus obviously there's plenty of people willing to pay a high service cost, and the cost of anything in the watch world is always relative. $3500 seems ridiculous but I just read another thread where some guy was willing to spend $5k a month to rent a Ferrari. Some people have the money to throw around. You gotta pay to play as they say.

$3500 seems very high for a basic CB. For reference I had a Patek Nautilus serviced for $1,000. Full overhaul was $1,000 and needed a new rotor (worn bearings?!?) for another $1,000.

Maybe I'll just load up on <$1k pieces and donate them when they die - but probably they'll just keep on ticking.

My question is, what is the anticipated longevity of the Journe brand? Am I going to be able to have it serviced in 30 years?

I was told this weekend that a basic service on the cb was about 1500. However, that may not have included a polish, etc, which could be pricey on tantalum, plus anything else one might need. I guess the only way to find out is when the thing actually needs a service and you send it in.
Despite a bit of hesitation, I put in an order for one...it's just perfect looking in my eyes. I might regret it in 5-7 years, but I was willing to take the risk |

I love FP Js. So beautiful watches.
I had the Octa Chrono in Pt. If I'm not wrong, they told me approx CHF 1700 or 1900 for overhaul.

I still don't care what it costs.I think it's worth the 2k. This watch will be mine. I plan to own one by Sept.2014. I want to pay roughly 15k no more for it. this way i can justify a couple of services.

it's not so much the cost that worries me as the fear that 10/20 years from now, the company won't be there to service their complicated proprietary movements.
