Deputy Sheriff Taylor Lindsey and Sergeant Noel Ramirez were shot and killed yesterday from ambush as they took their lunch break in a restaurant at 1122 East Wade Street, in Trenton.

At approximately 3:00 pm a male subject opened fire on them from outside of the establishment, fatally shooting both through the restaurant's front window. The man was located deceased near the scene by responding deputies.

Deputy Lindsey had served with the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office for two years.

Sergeant Ramirez has served with the Gilchrist County Shefiff’s Officer for seven years.

This was so senseless - I can’t imagine the way that the families (both biological and in uniform) will deal with the emotions.

As this continues to happen, good luck finding quality recruits in the coming years.
The job has always been a dangerous one, but with the growing, randomness of these murders,
it's hard to see people wanting to sign up moving forward.
Can't say as I'd blame anyone, either.
