Most money you ever found?

Until today it was a 20 dollar bill 30 years ago....along with a few dollar bills in parking lots etc....
Today i found a womens wallet with 763 dollars and 31 cents...with no ID.
I feel bad because all i can think of is some poor women with kids cashed her paycheck and kids going hungry evicted out of home etc. i told HEB manager about it....the manager called me an hour later saying a women crying came looking for it. It was raining and she was putting kid in car seat and in a hurry and dropped it.
It was how i though it was......single women cashed check at HEB and lost wallet.
He wanted to know is it was to give her my cell phone number....i said no....im just glad i found it and not somebody else that would keep it.

You're a good man Greg!

I think a €10 bill is the most I ever found.

Nice one Greg very good of you.
About 20 years ago I found a $100 note in the gutter. Spent it pretty quick in those days

Your post is quoted in Tom's post. Though I'm surprised he could see Tom's, I thought everyone was on his ignore list.

A Couch money clip and $600.00 in cash. No way to determine who the victim was. Also a wallet containing a police badge. That one was returned to it's greatfull owner.

Way to go Greg! I've found $1, $5's and $10's but that's about it. My wife once found a women's purse in a mall bathroom with $60 bucks in it. It had her driver's licenses in it. So we were able to return it.

I was walking to the metra (local commuter train) in a snow storm and noticed a roll of 20 dollar bills (guessing $60-$80) on the ground. Almost at the same moment I noticed a homeless guy that I see daily on my commute, so I simply moved the roll to his cup so he could get warm and have a good day. I thought he needed it worse than myself.

Op, good on you for getting the money back to the owner, must feel good!

100% kudos!!! I’m glad you gave it back and it went to the right person. There are people more less fortunate than 99.9% of the people on TRF. Speaks volumes about you as a person.

What is HEB?

When I was working in vending I found a cardboard box filled with to the brim with dollars under my desk. My company estimated it to be about $4-6K in cash. It was all the money that had been collected from the vending route we had through the busier summer months. I turned it in to the CEO and to this day people I know still give me grief for it saying, “You fool, you should’ve taken it to Vegas. No one would’ve known.”

While that may be true, integrity is worth much more than a measly 6K. I’ve made that over and over. You can always make more money, you can’t always get your integrity or trust back. Imagine if I had taken it and gotten caught. That’s a felony theft in many states. Finding a well paying job after that would be very difficult. Not worth it.

Found a thick stack of folded 20s in the dirt back in ‘01.
Picked it up and placed it in my pocket while I was working, I nearly forgot about it.
Handed it off to a responsible person as my day was ending, never thought to count it.

Sometimes we glimpse moneys utter lack of worth in the presence of life’s more fundamental concerns.

I was walking through an old parking lot with my wife on the way to see a movie. I spotted something shiny in the asphalt and picked it up. I said, “what’s this, a diamond?” It turns out it was, and was worth about $1500 towards the price of my new sub.

Maybe 20 bucks. I’ve lost my wallet before and had it graciously returned which really made my day. Glad you were able to find her Greg.
