Changing straps

Was wondering, do you all tape up the lugs before doing a strap change on your nicer pieces, so to not scratch them with a tool. If so, what kind of tape to not leave residue? Thank you

I use a watch tool that I got on Amazon but I used a small screwdriver for many years. Never used tape but I may start now

Nah. I'm working to not be OCD on things. I started when my car showed a small scratch. I just feel that if I spend all my time worrying about something "not perfect," I will drive myself crazy.

I tried once but somehow managed to scratch the lug anyway so I don't bother now and just try to be extra careful now. Might buy that Bergeon 7825 like the Rolex 3200.

I use a watch tool to pop the pins and use my fingernail to push them back in. The scratches, if any, are very superficial.

Somehow I have steady hands and didn't scratch the lugs when I remove the bracelet of my sub but I did it with 2 spring bar tools to release both end at the same time, couldn't do it with one

I actually double tape the watch. Masking tape first because it leaves no residue and then electrical tape over that for added protection.

I use a playing card for bracelets and have a quick release maker for all straps

no tape for my 1661p (holes, SEL). a wooden toothpick works just fine and so far, the wood has not been able to scratch the lug holes
