Is it okay to change inserts on my SD 1665?
Thoughts on this please, my 1665 came with a service insert and a questionable lume pip.
I believe I've sourced a period correct worn insert but has no lume pip. Is it okay to change? So if it's okay to change, I'm interested to know what you guys prefer, I love the new worn insert, it changes the look of the watch far more than I thought it would. |

All day everyday I would change it back to the original MK3 over a service insert. I'm OCD and like the pearl, but just pop the other one out of the service and into the original. Looks like the lume matches
O and beautiful 1665!

Thanks, I agree, original is better, just not keen on putting an after market pearl, I think, on a good original insert. |

Okay, so the lume pip has been glued in, not good, so it's either of these two choices.
Service insert with a crappy aftermarket lume pip, glued in, or a nice genuine MK 3, period correct insert but no lume pip. |

You should be able to pop the pip out from the back of the insert. You may want to try loosening the glue by applying nail polish remover onto a qtip and rub the back of the pip on the underside of the insert. It should pop out and you can place into the MK3 insert.
