36 here due to the hidden clasp. Gives it a reason to get the 36 over the 41.

At one point I loved the classic 36mm DJ and DD. As time went on, they just wear too small for me.

Ahahaha!! You've been bit by the biggie is better fad that is coming around for some certain years now, but you'll come a round and be back to the real CLASSIC standard size 36mm.

Do not think so. I own nothing over 40mm. Just wear Subs most of the time and my sweet spot is 40mm. Been wearing a Sub for 30 years. I have had several DJ's over the years and they never stick around long. Like the watch, just not on me. Tried a DJ II when they came out but something about the proportions did not work for me. I did wear a YG DD pretty regularly in the 90's but more as a dress watch. Tried one again last summer and did not have the same appeal it did back in the 90's.

My wife wears a 116231 white diamond dial DJ and I think it is a beautiful watch.

Just a Sub guy...

I have an 8 inch wrist and love my 36. Also couldn't deal without the hidden clasp on the jubilee.

I think the DJ 36 looks exactly perfect with a shirt and tie, for a little more size, with jeans and a sweater say, the Sub is just right as well.

Personal preference, I wouldn't want a DJ that's larger than my sport/tool watch.

It is all preference and feel of comfort, the DJ36mm is totally different from the sport watches your are referring to and of course it will be more heft and weight than the normal DJ/DD models so we cant really compare the DJ/DD to them unless you have both that you know and feel your adjusted to.

My beater Seiko SX007 Divers are obviously heavier with heft and larger than the 36mm but I can adjust but doesn't have the feel of an elegance size of the DJ/DD. Just pure preference of what you want to wear it for really.

Had a DJ 1601 I got rid of after my first GMT 16710 made me realize that 40mm is my sweet spot. Today OCROLEXGUY helped me pickup a new DJ41, tomorrow can't come fast enough.

One more vote for the DJ41.

with my 6.5 wrists, I can wear the 36 no problem...BUT

I wear mostly my divers so I am naturally used to enjoy more wrist presence ...so I prefer the 41...which seems to be a real 40mm watch which is perfect for my taste nowadays.

Nope...I've got good news for you

Can't go wrong with either one. I choose the 41mm for my 7.5 inch wrist. It's the biggest watch I own.

Ah, you're right . sorry, looks like I was slightly off - the DJII is 49mm lug to lug and the DJ41 is 47mm. I would still go for the 47mm L2L of the DJ41, that 49mm is pushing it for me. Probably doesn't seem like much, but certainly can tell on my wrist.

Thanks for the photo comparison though and glad it's from DavidSW -- most of my pieces come from him :)

Cheers

here's that ExpI 214270 on my wrist -- looks like photobucket doesn't work how I used to use it ...

On jubilee 36mm! Oyster 41. I hate that the 41 doesn't have the hidden clasp.

I thought that too... until I went to the AD and put the sub on my wrist for the first time . I was torn between many models for a while.

I went through the same dilemma. I wanted a TT datejust on a jubelee bracelet. At first I was leanining towards the 36 (YG chamagene). First of all because of the TT price difference. Second, I liked the idea that i you can see part of the bracelet & last cause it’s a classic. When the AD called & said he has a 41 TT RG sundust dial in the same price I went for it. 1. I think the RG sundust is the best combo (the 36 lacks sundust dial). 2. It has an upgraded movement with 70h reserve and 3. A 41 is in the men watch comfort zone (IMHO) and it looks great. The proportions of the new 41 are work of art. I too love the hidden clasp but the 41’s is also TT unlike the older models, the crown is gold & is has a sturdy feel so I don’t think it’s a downside anymore. All in all i’m very pleased with my choice.

Congratulations!
I tried that very configuration on at the AD yesterday and have to say I was blown away! That photo really doesn't do the dial justice. Under the shop lights, it was just mesmerising and changed from black to grey. Superb. And it was VERY comfortable and the size looked great on my wrist too.

Now, I was wearing my DJ36 when I went in too and I find it VERY difficult to vote in this poll. If I were voting while sat at the desk in the AD, possibly I'd go for the 41... But back at home looking at my classic, beautiful 36... Don't know!
I guess there's room for both. In that configuration there, with a smooth bezel, giving it a more sporty, casual twist, I'd say 41.

The DJ41 wasn't really a contender for my next watch but after yesterday, it's certainly on the list! Had he got a Rhodium baton dial in stock, I may well have pulled the trigger... Or silver... Or might go and have another look at that black...

A BEAUTIFUL watch!!!
