Rolex rose gold bubbleback (3693) yr 1934: need info?

Hi All,

I have a nice vintage Bubbleback (ref. 3693) and having a hard time finding information on it. It is fully functional and seems to be all original but needs some TLC. I am wondering what the original wrist strap looks like.

I appreciate any information. Thanks,
Rob

I can fix it. You have some incorrect bits there. The rotor weight is wrong for the era. I have a correct one most likely. Actually the the rotor cover or the top plate of the autowind is wrong as well. It was likely changed to accommodate the change in the weight as that one requires the chamfer on the plate. Someone has really pinged that plate to close the wear in the pivot holes. It could be much nicer. I've got scads of rotor covers and weights. More than likely the original autowind unit complete cratered from lack of service and age and a watchmaker just swapped in a spare complete. Happens. They weren't collector items they were watches.

You are missing some screws and movement retainers.

Unfortunately the original dial got relumed...as did the hands.

If it were mine I would have someone do that over...leaving the dial but putting some kind of lume material that wasn't Martian Green. :-)

This is a sub seconds 9 10 or 14 k top and bezel with a stainless back model.

Pretty rare.

The serial would indicate that year BUT...there is a lot of anomalies in that era that no one has come forth to rectify. Doesn't matter really it's pre 40. It would be interesting to see what is under the autowind...that will tell more.

Email me if I can help

I appreciate all your feedback. I guess I have to do some more research. Not an easy task on this model.
Thanks again.
