Rolex 1601 - Instant regret!!
I just passed on this for $1500 and immediately regret it. I have wanted a vintage date just for a while and for some reason I just love this dial!

Honestly I would have passed on it myself. I’m just not a fan of the combo. A 1601in decent shape for $1500 is a good price tho

I've bought a lot of watches, many without the consideration due such a purchase, and let me tell you I only ever bought two distressed-looking watches, both of which I ended up replacing parts on. My 1016 got a new dial, my 1018 new dial, crown, hands and crystal. I like them much better now. Below is a pic of that 1016 when I bought it, I put a service dial in instead, the 1018 was such a wreck I didn't keep pics

I like your taste. I think it looks cool. People pay tons of money for tropical/patina'd dials and for a low price (assuming the internals are all good) I would give it a thumbs up. I'd rock a new strap and keep the rest the way it is.

I was holding back on saying, but it reminded me of the idiotic school years when we'd scoff down pizzas then drink till it came back up... winner being the creator of the most, umm, colourful sidewalk art...

I had one for a while - standard white dial though - and foolishly sold a few years ago. They are superb all around watches...

It looks like a champagne dial originally.
Fairly similar looking dial on an all-gold 1601 that is for sale at HQ Milton. |
