Airports and airplanes usually have the highest concentration pf rolexes per capita.

It is not a surprise, people who are traveling for work or going on vacation can usually come up with the funds to buy a permanent timepiece.

I never run in circles where Rolex is common until I recently started a MBA program. Seems like half of the people there have Rolex on. Before that it was only the odd person that I would run into here or there.

What's interesting is that several times people have come up to me at random and asked about my SS Daytona. They're always watch people that also have the WIS disease, and they feel fairly sure that if someone is wearing a SS Daytona then they at least know something about watches. As great as subs and DJs are, don't think they would get the same attention.

Airports for sure. Paradoxically, the airport is also the worst place to check out Rolexes at the ADs. The selection on display is usually awful.

I never really noticed so many in Japan (besides my own). Will look out for it on my next Osaka trip.

Singapore.

Every taxi driver has TT DJ or OP.

Everyone on Orchard Street is sporting Sub,GMT or Daytona.

Everywhere.

Unlike, say, in the U.S., people with lower-earning jobs in Hong Kong aren't spending every bit of their excess income quicker than they can save it on eating out 6 nights a week, multiple pairs of $300 sneakers, $200 designer nail manicures, expensive salon visits, 60" TVs (their apartments are too small), massive sound systems, jet skis, motorcycles, boats, cars/trucks/SUVs new or old, car insurance, gas/petrol etc etc etc.

Take away most of the above spending, save money instead, and even working a lower-paying job in time will allow one to afford a Rolex.

As was mentioned, it's all about priorities.

Holidays / Family Gatherings, My wife, 2 sons, my daughter. My 3 year old has a antique Mini Mouse Seiko also she has a Mickey Mouse Pulsar as well. I got the mickey mouse's in a pawn shop which I changed the bands immediately so it is fresh on her. The only one that does not have a Rolex in my family is my step brother, he is a compulsive gambler.

When I was growing up, my father always had a 16808 YG Submariner with the blue dial and bezel. I got to wear it when we was sitting in church. I fell in love, my father also have a stainless 16610 w/ black face. I only seen him wear it a few times and it was in his closet, this was his tool watch.

Hong Kong....hands down. Chinese are buying cubes from all over the world and then flipping in HK. You can throw a rock in any direction and hit one of the most coveted watches.......at 3 or 4 times retail.

HK definitely, they’re Rolex crazy there.
But I spent last week in Singapore and saw hardly any Rolex watches there. Maybe because I was in the touristy areas though

Aspen.

Wife and I vacationed there over the holidays.

Lots of people wearing Rolexes, Pateks, APs, and Panerais.

Actually, it started on the flight to Aspen. Lots of rich people flying in, and it didn’t stop once we landed.

In the Macau pawn shops.

High rollers go the Macau to gamble, lose as usual, sell their watch for more chips, lose them and go home with an empty wrist.
