Hulk for $7k appears to be a good deal

There is a small shop in San Francisco has a Hulk for $7k. He's got the papers, Box, card etc. It's from Oct 2013 so warranty has expired. No service records. It's been lightly polished. It seems like his othher watches are rightly priced consistently with others I've seen on TRF and elsewhere.

I'm thinking of buying this cause the flip value.

Actually, he'll take $3000 cash plus tax on that $3k, and also give me $3500 for my Explorer 1 from 2015 (WG T-Rex).

I might even be able to trade the Hulk for a BLNR.

Does $7k seem low? What should I look for on the watch? I looked at it with a Loupe and it seems great.

He is willing to send it to Watch CSA for me, but I'm not too familiar with this.

Thank you

7k seems to be way below market value now

Seems below market, can you have it checked for authenticity?

A shop that sells watches and presumably knows what they have are selling this far below the going rate. This seems weird. Its almost like they know something you don't. Im all for getting deals but this seems strange.

Sounds dodgy, fake or stolen, looking to catch greedy flippers without doing research.

$7k is a good price.

remember, the seller is making up another $1k on your trade; there's nothing wrong with that but I'd whip out the trade and pay $7k - then sell the 39exp (?) at a fire sale here for $4500 firm, maybe even $5k

just grab it at $7k before someone else does.

The price leaps on the LVC are within the last few months, so maybe he is off the mark due to ignorance..

If the watch is legit, this is a very good deal and should be done. The 36mm EXPI is very soft and the LVC is white hot.

I got mine back in 2012/2013 for $7800 so $7K is not that far off the mark at all.

I agree but I know someone that needed money that sold a DD2 for 60% of what it’s really worth. Just depends but be careful.

It’s a great deal but be very careful. Only buy if you can authenticate it independently. Good luck.

At that price, proceed with caution.

Also agree that if you do decide to purchase, pay straight up and sell you watch here in the classifieds.

Rolex watches, especially ultra hot models are very consistent on price. In a private sale you might find one under priced but even that is rare. A store that sells watches is almost unheard of especially a ultra hot Rolex model. There is a reason it’s super cheap and those reasons should have you running away. Perhaps he also has a SS Daytona ceramic lying around for $10k.

In today's market, it sure is too good to be true. These things have skyrocketed in price over the last couple of months.

I don't see it as near as questionable as the other posters. That price is exactly what a used Hulk should be selling for. You found a seller who is not participating in the senseless markup. Good for you. A very, very trusted seller here on this forum recently sold a BNIB hulk with a August 2017 purchase date on the warranty card for $8900, and nobody thought that was strange. So 7K for a 2013 Hulk doesn't make me concerned in the least.

Tough call, do your due diligence with a watchmaker/rsc...the lvc is notorious with very good fakes.

Yes, I wanted to take it to Rolex in Dallas RSC (SF RSC has closed). It would have been convenient as I was flying from SF to DFW later the same day (to visit family in Dallas). And I have taken my Mom Dallas RSC so I know the routine.

I offered to buy it on condition that I could take it to RSC in Dallas and return it for refund if Dallas Rolex said there was a problem with authenticity of any part.

But they would not do that. Instead they offered to send it to WatchCSA.com for authenticity and valuation (whatever that means).

Good point. I took this reasonable risk into consideration when sleeping on it.

I get back into SF on Tuesday, so I will go there again. We'll see. :-)

How much should a Daytona sell for? watches are worth what people are willing to pay

Is the polishing job okay? Could that be why it’s priced low? I do find it hard to believe that a business owner would miss out on potential revenue just to make the point of “This is what this watch should be selling for”

Best case scenario he doesn’t realize the hype behind the hulk, worst case, there’s something wrong with it, and it’s out of warranty.
