Cermaic Bezel Retro-fitting??
As the title says, I have searched with those phrases and nothing obvious coming up...
I have a 2001 GMT II is it possible to retrofit a new style ceramic bezel? thinking of a full Rolex Service in the UK and would ask them to do it, if indeed it is possible?? sorry if this has been asked before, I have used the search feature... Jason |

The new ceramic bezel will not fit on the 2001 GMT.

And Rolex would NEVER do this for you. In fact, they would probably send for the heavies to escort you off the premises!

YES it can be done.... I have seen one at a local jeweler. It looked rather interesting, but I could see a market for it.

I would not waste time or energy doing this. I do not know if you are attached emotionally to your GMT, but you can sell it easily and get a pre-owned GMTC and not have too much come out of pocket. That GMT you have is a classic, and its value is only going up.

Just found this on Ebay.
Ceramic bezel for a 16610 . . . But don't ask me how it fits, looks or whatever. I have no clue at all. Any member who got this ceramic bezel and could show us some pics please Here, have a look (not affiliated with the seller !) http://www.ebay.com/itm/BEZEL-INSERT...ht_4050wt_1367 |

C'mon guys.....
a ceramic aftermarket insert is simply glued into where a normal insert would be.. it's not a Rolex part, nor would Rolex work on a watch so equipped... An authentic Rolex ceramic bezel will not even remotely fit on a 16610 or a 16710 without completely re-machining the case... not a job for a novice...

A ceramic bezel insert for $105.
That's enough right there to raise red flags. Ceramic is a very broad term and it could mean almost anything that is baked and hardened and in this case it definitely does not mean Cerachrom. I could be wrong, though. Theoretically, there could be some gumdrop trees somewhere.

If you are not comfortable with doing so, please keep the GMT as is. Adding a ceramic bezel would be very cheesy imho. Maybe change bezel colors to a pepsi or coke (depending which you have) |

Think I will keep as is, maybe just a proper service and replacement black bezel as slightly marked in places....

All you want is a insert cost around £35-£45 and very easy to change yourself.

Its your watch but to glue a slither of ceramic on to a bezel well not my cup of tea sooner have the original aluminium insert.
