Why does this annoy me???
...When you pull out the crown to stop the seconds, and the hand keeps moving! I feel like that shouldn't happen on a Rolex...

It's designed to allow you to wind the watch or adjust the time without stopping the second hand. If you're hacking the watch then most likely you need to adjust the minute hand.

I had an old seiko that did that. It annoys the crap out of me. If I want to set the time then that includes the second hand

Is the watch still fairly new? A few of mine did this at first and it seemed like it took a bit to "break in" the crown. Now they don't do it anymore. Just wondering

You know what annoys me?
A quartz movement. Seeing the second hand tick by the second bugs the hell out of me these days.

I can hack the second hand on all my Roelxs. Sometimes it's not easy. I mean sometimes when I pull the crown to hack it at the 12 o'clock so I can set it to atomic time it won't pull out all the way without me really forcing it. I must admit it does piss me off for such an expensive watch. After all my $600 Tisot hacks just fine. My AP 15400 hacks beautifully.

which is why most quartz chronometers can never be considered a true chronometer...unless they incorporate a 1/10th second dial that records accurate fractions of a second.

All of my Rolexes have hacked without issue. You take it for granted until watches of higher brands don't hack at all.

did not worry me as at the time i did not know enough about watches to know what was going on, and how exactly it should work, but it works perfectly fine now

A while ago I was close to buying a 5167 Aquanaut...couldn't get my head around the fact that the "finest" brand's movement didn't hack. Completely unacceptable to me.

Interesting... All of my Rolexes hack with no problem. Wonder what causes that?

On that basis a modern Daytona is not a chronometer as it only show 1/8ths of a second.

You can hack it by putting 'turning back pressure' counter-clockwise on the crown when changing the time. Not ideal of course, yet works.
