Reviews on the Rubber B straps/GLIDELOCK edition

I see quite a few people on the forum with the Rubber B straps on their Rolex. I don't own one, but I'm ready to hit the purchase button. Thoughts, opinions & pictures of your Rolex with the strap are appreciated. Does the rubber stretch, rip, crack? Looking at the glidelock edition.

I just had one put on my Sub C this week. I am very happy with it. Feels good on my wrist. Quality is spot on.
I did a post: RUBBER B FOR MY SUB C. Has several photos and comments

Good luck

I have the non glidelock one for my GMT and Daytona (the ones with the RubberB buckle). On the GMT the watch wears a bit top heavy since the watch is heavy and the strap is light. On the Daytona it feels great. Although on both, I could never get a good fit without the easy link. So if you are getting the one that allows attachment of the glidelock, I'd go for it. For me doing so would've negated the top heaviness and inability to get a good fit. The straps are really high quality and won't let you down. The fit is very close when installing, almost so tight they are hard to install. I had a tip that to install them easier, get the end link part hot in hot/boiling water before installing to make them more plyable.

GMT Rubber B

So Sunday night replaced my bracelet with a Rubber B and 2nd hand clasp mechanism.

Having only bought the watch in January with a full Rolex service in February I am concerned how much wear the clasp has already taken.

So I decided to make up a sacrificial bracelet to take the every day.

As everybody else noted here, fitting the spring bars is a nightmare and you need to be very careful you don't scratch the case in the process, I'd suggest applying some masking tape in the local are to catch a slip of the tweezers.

Personally I'm delighted with the result, I think it's a great look. The bezel colour and strap Coordinate really nicely.

I was hoping I could switch back to the bracelet for evenings out etc, but the fitting just doesn't support that. On the flip side it's a great fit once in with no gaps and the profile following case nicely.

There you go hope it helps!

I never quite understood this. Why buy such an expensive watch to only partially enjoy it?

It's like buying a Ferrari and replacing the rims with those of a Lada just to save them from getting some scratches.

Why a nylon or rubber strap?
  • Because you can;
  • Because James Bond did it;
  • Orange is nice to wear on King's Day:)
  • Because it's easier to clean these then an Oyster bracelet, after you've worked on remodelling your house;
  • Because sitting behind a desk all week is hard on your bracelet:)
  • Because it makes the watch even more inconspicious;
  • Because I will always switch back to the Oyster after a week or so.
  • Because a NATO / ZULU / is more comfortable if it is really hot and you sweat a lot.

Interesting view Auerr, I guess there are two types of Ferrari owner, the one with so much money it does not matter what happens, probably does not know where the dip stick is.

Then there is a second type the genuine enthusiast, maybe saved all his life to buy the Ferrari of his dreams. Unfortunately for him money is an object and protecting his investment is critical, so to go to Tesco he decides ill pit the Lada rims on, but on Sunday morning when heading to Goodwood, he returns to the polished original.

218225 I have to agree with you 100%

This strap gives the watch a whole new look. I have heard of Everest but by the looks of these pictures I'm going to do my research on Rubber B now.

Everest is too bulky. Rubber B is the way to go to keep a clean and sleek look.

Bad cracking on RubberB strap on Rolex Submariner

I bought a Rubber B and installed it 2-3 years ago. I alternate the Rolex with a Garmin sports watch. Was surprised to see cracking on the strap a couple of days ago. It’s also now hard and shiny. Will try to upload photos. Got in contact with Rubber B who were very polite but point blank refused to replace it. They do not have a warranty. Seriously. Their warranty begins with the statement that they cannot offer one.

Their polite and unflinching response to me was that I must have left the strap exposed to chemicals for a long period of time but as a desk jockey with no exposure to chemicals and another watch that I tend to wear when in the sun and exposed to sun cream etc I simply can’t see when that might have happened. Anyway - be aware that there is a risk of this happening to your expensive strap and the company won’t in any circumstances provide a replacement. Unless you pony up another £200.... if you’re that way inclined. A shame because I liked the strap.

The pictures I see of these straps only a few years old would make me hesitant to purchase. They need to improve whatever it is in rubber that keeps it looking supple and fresh.

My Aquanaut rubber strap with 2 years of wear still looks brand new, and a replacement is still only $250. If Patek can do it for that cost, aftermarket sure could as well.

3 year old rubber b on my 5980. Boat, beach, pool. Unless you bathe in gasoline or abrasive chemicals the rubber won't crack like that.
