quick question

Hi, I just noticed that on my 5500 the case serial was scratched onto the inner part of the clasp. Im assuming that was done in case the one between the lugs rubbed away? Should I have it removed during its upcoming overhaul for security reasons?

I would leave it as is, and it was probably done by a watchmaker at some point during a service so he wouldn't confuse watch bands with another watch.
