What next? (F.p Journe/Laurent Ferrier
Over the past two years my taste in watches have changed and I've been looking into a lot of independent watch makers. I follow the 1 brand 1 watch rule so it's helping me filter down what I really like from a watch company, comparing it to my past where i collected two from 1 brand but I did not enjoy those pieces as much..
Moving to my current state of the collection these are the pieces and the 4th watch an Omani explorer 2 So for the 5th watch I've filtered it down to two watch brands and specifically in between 3 watches, in platinum FPJ centigraphe, FPJ optimum chronometre and a Laurent Ferrier traveler. I chose these 3 watches because I think I'm on the right path of actually collecting watches that have certain value to me. Most of the days I'm just leaning towards a certain watch and down the line I know I'll end up with a Laurent and FPJ. (Don't have a pic or can't find pics of them but I've tried all of them) These are the contenders: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Definitely the centigraphe for me! Based on aesthetics alone. (although I prefer rose with black dial)
Please post pics of your choice when you get it |

First, you have a great collection! Second, all 3 options are great and would fit into your already impressive collection. Personally, I prefer most LF watches to journe. However, in this matchup, I'd go centigraphe

Love the Centigraphe, I´ve also been thinking about adding one to the collection for quite some time now.
I prefer the black label boutique edition, though. |

I love the chrono optimum! Dead seconds is cool on the back.
Incredibly jealous of your Pt 1921

I tried the optimum but didn't take a picture of it just one thing that annoyed me was it wore like a 42/43mm watch in comparison with the centigraphe and the Laurent was but the centigraphe was a charm to look at.

With your collection I'd go for one of the FPJs. I'm a sucker for a salmon dial so if that is what is above that would be my choice.

I have a bias towards FPJ, and the optimum is one I'd like to own.
You say it wore like 42mm/43mm. It was the 40mm version you tried on not the 42mm right? (Just to be sure). Personally the 42mm looks / wears way to big for me (and I have a Dato Up/Down in my collection also so my comparison is with that at 41mm) but the 40mm is good. |

As you already have a couple of time only dress watches I'd say that the FPJ Optimum should be the obvious choice... if you haven't put that LF in contention.

Personally out of those three, I would choose the FPJ Centograph

I'm sincerely mindblowned by your tastes. Perfection!
I would personally go with the FP Journe Optimum Chronometre as the Centigraph is more gimmicky to me. Laurent Ferrier is obviously great too but right now, FP Journe is growing faster on me! |

I really like the FPJ Centigraphe. The look, it's unique nature, etc.
Can't go wrong with any of your choices though. Great collection.

Really surprised (in a good way) that FPJ was such a comprehensive win!

Do the Centigraphe. I tried one on today (and have it for the weekend), and it really is a stunning and unique piece with a (IMO) very cool movement. FPJ's casework and finishing on the movement is really incredible. I'm really tempted. Here is the Black Label in Platinum.

I will say that the Centigraphe vs the Datograph is a very difficult decision.
I have been recently lusting for a Datograph. The Centigraphe was never really on the radar. But when I actually picked one up in person, my perception of the Centigraphe really changed. The dial is somewhat busy, and the legibility is admittedly questionable, but the Journe really feels like the better overall watch - the casework and 18K rose gold movement really feel like something special. As much as I like the Datograph (the Dato's movement is the best of the two), the case shape is kind of awkward with the thick case back. The Journe just melds onto the wrist. Overall, I just feel that the Centigraphe is the more special piece of the two, and that in part is influenced by me having met Mr. Journe a few years back at the Tokyo boutique, where we had an hour long conversation - and I like that there is always a coherent story and vision behind every one of Mr. Journe's designs, as opposed to the somewhat colder machine that is now Lange as part of the Richemont group. For me at least, the fact the Journe is also $15K USD cheaper than a used Up/Down Platinum Datograph, makes it a winner in my book. |

Looks stunning - Black Label is the best version imho as I do not like the rose gold versions and even though regular platinium version is also nice, black label is nicer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I very much am drawn to the FPJ and would like to add one to my collection.
I have purchased an Laurent ferrier and am very happy with it. Both great choices, I found it easier to settle on a choice in the LF line. I really would like an FPJ to be my next purchase and was in the boutique this weekend trying one on.

I had the original dato, found it too small and thick, but like you the Centigraph fits like a dream.
