I would be sorely tempted to inform Rolex of the offer, so that they then have some share of responsibility. Then change your AD.

Afraid while you still have many willing to pay these crazy prices for a old new Daytona with a ceramic bezel prices will stay high.On the grey market there are hundreds of them for sale afraid the WIS has made a rod for his/her own back.

Maybe...with a twist. Amex Platinum, Chase Reserve cards (maybe others) usually have a price protection guarantee. If the same item is found for less within X months, they refund you the difference up to a certain yearly cap. Could you pay $17k for the Daytona at the AD, then claim the price protection feature? It'd be an interesting thing to try.

Does 17,000 USD include VAT and sales taxes? If so, how much would those be in Vietnam?

It might not be as bad of a deal as everyone here is saying

Still waiting to hear from OP is this is pre-owned or the AD has jacked up the price of a brand new, previously unsold Rolex.

Here in Asia the ADs jack up new unsold pieces with impunity. As OP is in vietnam I figure it's new

Those have max payout per incidence of $500 or so and likely don't apply to jewelry.

Agreed. Admittedly this is easy to say though when you've paid $12,400 like I did. It's a fantastic watch and I feel lucky to own it without having to be taxed by the gray market.
