Icon Viewing!?!?!?!?

Got to see the Official Paul Newman Daytona in L. A. today. Special thanks to Chronocrass for confirming address and providing Saturday viewing hours.

It was tremendously worth it. Got to chat with Nell’s ex boyfriend who is auctioning it off to benefit her charity and Paul Boutros. There were about five other (much more knowledgeable) WIS there. Super chill environment. Here’s some pics. Will type more when back in Chicago and on computer.IMG_0436.JPG

Very cool to say you've worn "THE" watch!

Congrats

There’s a new king in town! Ha!

It was really very cool. The ex boyfriend was really nice and talkative about trying to honor PN’s legacy and to do something worthy of him. There were also many other cool watches, like a first year Sub made for professionals that Paul showed me. He was also very low key and interested to chat even though it was obvious I wasn’t a vintage collector. Gave me the auction catalog which I can’t wait to dive into.

Sounds like a fun time

Surprised they are letting people handle this piece though

I agree, but they were phenomenally laid back. The strap is a new one for handling, but the original comes with the watch when you win. There were also about five security guards for four “lookers.”

Glad you were able to make it. I had a similar experience to you. It was more casual than I expected, and Paul Boutros was very gracious in sharing his time answering questions. This experience is how I think they create more bonds and business with the collecting community as a whole. Even though I won't be placing any bids this time around, I will be singing their praises for a long time to come.

So did it feel like a million bucks... ie cheap. Or did it feel like a ten or twenty mill piece?

Really should be look don't touch, we don't even like this when buying AD's watches.

So did you ask how much in trade for your “platona” towards the PN Daytona?
