Washing the dishes

This is going to be a weird question but just curious what the masses do. When you wash your dishes, do you take your rolex off or keep it on. This thought dawned on me last night when I cleaned up after a dinner party and looked at a huge stack of stuff in and around the sink. I rolled up my sleeves and second guessed myself in taking off my watch. At that point I wonder are people more on keeping it on or off?

I assume so. I mean, for that amount of money it should be ok right?

Many switch their watch upon getting home.

I only take my watch off to sleep. Daily chores are all performed while wearing a watch.

Perhaps not, but I thought those with a watch obsession would try for as much wrist time as possible in a 24 hour period. Only time I'm not wearing a watch is when I'm sleeping.

Switch, yes...but not wear one? There's a topic for another nugatory poll.

I believe dish soap won't be an issue if your watch is water resistant ( It has been tested and passed ). Actually using a soft tooth brush for cleaning with a little dish soap is quite ok BUT please RINSE WELL AFTER. Dry Soap residue left behind on the casing and bracelet will attract more dirt, resulting in metal wear between the links

I make use of the opportunity and dump my platinum Date Date in the dishwater to make it shiny again.

I don't wear mine for two reasons; I've previously gotten skin irritation under watches when doing dishes, and I don't like getting grease on the watch. It's just easier to take it off.

It's up to you. Will not hurt to leave it on but if you want to be careful to not scratch or get water spots you can take it off. If you do take it off, just remember where you set it down or it could go missing!

I wouldn't give a second thought to washing the dishes and wearing my watch.

Now, my wife...as much as I've tried to explain she's wearing an "oyster", won't have any of it.

I also tend to take mine off when cleaning dishes, most other tasks are fair game.

Wife washes the dishes if the dishwasher isn’t. I’d have to ask her and get back to you

This thought "dawned" on you? Good one.

Actually it's not safe to take your watch off because you'll put it on a towel and then you or someone else will grab the towel forgetting or not knowing the watch is there and then it'll be on the floor in 1.5 seconds flat. And of course I've never done that before, just heard about it happening.

I don't consider washing dishes a high-impact adventure.

Unless my wife and I are discussing who's going to do them.

Our plates, utensils, and glasses/cups go in the dishwasher. However, there are certain pots and pans that either don't fit or are not supposed to go in the dishwasher, so we wash those by hand. As much as I'd like to have my teenagers cleaning up after dinner, more often than not it ends up being done by my wife or me. I usually leave my Rolex on, as I don't view soapy water as being a threat to it. I typically leave it on until I get in bed.....then put it back on after I shower in the morning. YMMV

Most likely way for me to damage
my watch is dropping it when taking on/off. I wear SS bracelet 24/7 including sleep and shower. Watch always clean. Take it off only for workouts.
