Need opinion on Datograph

I'm looking to buy a Datograph 39 mm. for almost a year but I could not find the right one yet.

There is an offer for me, It left the Dealer on 2001 and had complete service on 2009. I'd like to have newer watch like 2010-2012 but can't find one yet.

Is this the issue I should worry?

Should I go for it or wait for the right one?

They're all the same. In light of the service, I'd go for it if the price is right.

Go for it, I'm dreaming of one to add to my Patek and if things work out like I hope they will, a new AP diver, the 39 Dato is really hot and I suspect prices will rise and they will be harder and harder to get, in mint they go around 40K so IMO it's a great bang for your buck

About finding a newer one there are a few on Chrono 24 but I think the 2-3 that are the newest ones are in Europe, but a little trip to Italy could be nice, plus you come back with a super watch

I say go for it too, according to some collectors, pre 2011 ALS watches are better. ALS is now run by a guy from BMW.

Don't know which are better, but I prefer the old Datograph to the new one

ALS quality is the same as it has always been regardless of who the CEO is. As for which Dato to get the latest I have ever seen for a 39mm one is 2009 which happens to be the year of my one I got brand new unworn. So to the OP if you can get one that has been serviced that is mint and complete for $42K or so you have done well. I know a collector with one who has one that was just serviced and his is mint and complete. Let me know and I would be happy to connect you both. Cheers,

To echo the others, I say go for it. If your goal was to find one 2010 or newer, you didn't do too bad finding one from 2009 - only 1 year off.
