Authenticate 1970s Cellini
Hi everyone, I inherited this 1973 Rolex Cellini and was 90% sure it was authentic.
However I posted it to Reddit and this comment planted the seeds of doubt: I would be very surprised if this was indeed an authentic and all-original piece... The engraved case, the crown, the way the band is attached to the case, everything screams 'modified watch'. I could be wrong, but I have my doubts. Would love your opinions. |

From the pictures provided, it looks ok to me. Sounds like the commenter on Reddit had no idea about these style of watches. Remove the case back and that should bury any doubt.

I wasnt that quick to go there, I have my suspicions too. Like I said, removing the case back will tell us 100%

Im guessing its a pry back. That little lip above the crown on the case back is where you should be able to fit a knife edge in and pry the back off. Go slow and dont force it.

Looks real to me.
But as mentioned above, would be nice to see a photo of movement, and inside back of case. There have been so many Cellini models made that it is impossible to be familiar with them all. |

Should be gold case and band if legit.

After looking at it closer, I feel about 95% sure that it is authentic.
I would assume it is 18k gold as well. |
