What’s wrong with calling US ADs and asking what’s your best price? Looks like a nice watch to my eye

Thanks for the suggestion...but it’s a $2200 watch.

Over the phone, to someone unknown to them, I think most ADs will tell you MSRP is their best price.

ADs near me are Turdneau and Macy’s

My experience is far different. Like you said, it’s 2200 item / they want to sell watches. Agree your local choices are poor

I have not been to a Macy’s in many years. When they do the 20% or 25% off watch sales do the exclude Hamilton? The Carson’s by us used to carry some nicer brands and they would often do percentage off watch sales. The nicer brands would eventually be included, albeit not at the 30-40 percent off deals.

Same here. I rarely visit department stores any more. I have no idea re: Macy watch sales...but I suspect this Hamilton would not be included.

That said, I’m not in a colossal hurry - apart from normal immediate gratification tendencies - to own the watch. I can wait. This is not a limited edition.

I did walk into a local AD at lunch yesterday. They carry Hamilton - but no chrono. Surprise!

I do suspect the watch won’t be in great supply ala the khaki field watch.

Perhaps with this brand, calling out of state ADs may find one willing to sell over the phone / ship out of state.

It’s not a steel sport Rolex after all.

It might be an interesting experiment if nothing else.

I have no idea the margins on this piece...my Gut tells me an “AD” would not sell it for < $2000. But I have nothing to back that up.

It is intriguing that Spanish and Italian sellers are offering $17xx and free shipping on Chrono24.

I saw that one of the sellers in the C24 screen grab is Sorelle Ronco. I bought from them a couple of years ago and besides communication not being top notch it was a good experience (watch shipped to the US) overall. I would buy from them again.

I just wanted to add this piece of info to the discussion.

Thank you.

I suppose, all things considered, I’d prefer to buy from the US. But nice to get a reference for this seller!

Good god.

So I navigate my way through Macy’s downtown after lunch today. Clearly I have not been in a retail dept store in eons. Let me tell you...the smell of death hung heavy in the air. I remember the sales people at Macy’s being a cut above years ago. These folks walked around like cast members of a Zombie flick.

Found the Hamilton display. Nothing but the dregs of their quartz lines - save for the field khaki - and nary a Chrono to be found.

My sales associate tells me they rarely get Chronos. If he attempted to order the watch, it could take over 2 months...and no guarantees. Macy’s knows their customers he says!

Just thought I’d pass this along as I light a candle for US retail.

Having said all this, I don’t want to walk into Turdneau - for other reasons.

I bought this watch from the large on line retailer at a pretty big discount. I tried this watch on at a retailer and I found it to be attractive. I will post pics upon receipt.

I like the look of it a lot. Of course, really wish it didn't have a date window.

Finally a bright, sunny day in the metro NYC area. The chrono sundials have grooves like a vinyl record. Liken’ it so far!

Update after a couple of weeks

I really like this watch. It is hard to get a Panda watch that is this affordable, yet has a quality Swiss movement.

My only quibbles are that the silver hands on the off white background is a little difficult to read and the date wheel is white against the off white background. Not sure that works. Would be better without the date.

The 40mm size works well on my small to medium sized wrist.

Overall, a winner. I snagged it at a low price on line. Track it if you want one.
