Icon9 Advice required please

Hi all, I need some help. I was changing the strap on my Panerai, and was tightening the screw on the deployment buckle to secure the buckle to the shorter end of the strap and the little screw head broke off leaving the male part in the female end of the buckle.

The head broke off cleanly and now I cannot turn the screw that has been left in the screw hole (obviously). My question is there a way I can get it out at home or should I go to the AD and have them send it to Panerai to see if they can remove (hopefully they can)?

Thanks for any help!

You can try to get the AD service dept - or a random watchmaker to remove the embedded piece.

However, you will likely have to take your buckle in to a boutique - not just any AD - to potentially get a new screw. ADs have been forced to send small requests like these to Panerai as they don't want to provide spare parts.

Only after cajoling a boutique over the phone and agreeing to send my tang buckle / stripped screw to them would they agree to provide me with a new screw!

Thanks Speed!! I called the AD where I purchased the buckle from, (as here in Toronto we only have two ADs) no Panerai boutiques. I guess I will take it into them and see what the say and how long it will take (assuming probably one to two months).

Thanks again!

Good luck! Perhaps Canadian ADs have more leeway. Keep us posted.

I can understand Panerai not wanting to sell bezels and such, but screws and pins?

Best of luck to you. I had a screw stripped and stuck in a Rolex recently and my local AD watchmaker was able to dig it out without any damage to anything. I hope you have similar success!
