1941 Models - Reliable Source?

I have been looking for a birth-year watch for my father, born in 1941. I've been looking on and off for about a year. I know the selection is limited, especially for a 34mm+ size, versus smaller cases. I have seen some on eBay, but more often than not, they are Frankenwatches. I have also found remants of many other listings marked as SOLD. Somehow, I need to get in earlier when clean models are up for sale.

Does anyone have a good Seller or source(s) that I can contact and keep on the lookout for these older models? All references appreciated. Thanks.

I was born then also and have gotten two early 40's from Derek. Found him to be very reliable and trustworthy. I will try to pm you the ref.# and maybe some pics. OF them tomorrow. I think he is also a trusted seller here, but am not sure of that

I know of no 1941 oyster models that are that big. Since the serial number lists have no bearing on the non oyster cases I think you are on a wild goose chase.

Unless you have the sale document or the original timing certificate , it may be very difficult to know the date of manufacture in that era

Hmm. There are a number of printed lists out there (by dealers as well as TRF members) detailing serial numbers by year. I understand that these are approximate, but I thought those numbers would at least get me close . . .

Oysters...the serial numbers work for years.

Non Oysters the serial numbers are not relevant..they are not in the same series.

You can't use the serial numbers on non oyster cases with the serial lists that designate the date.

Oyster case watches from that era...I know of no 34mm models.
