James Bond going back to ROLEX for new film (Bond 23)?

So guys, I'm sure some of you have heard the rumblings that Omega will NOT be the watch on Bond's wrist for installment 23. See below for source.

I think Omega is out and Rolex will be back in. Reasoning? The timing is just too perfect with the new CERAMIC Sub releasing at Basel this year. On top of that, Craig is a huge Rolex fan. He's been seen sporting vintage and contemporary Rolexes at various Bond press functions which is a huge slap in the face for Omega. I'm sure that's been discussed heavily with the board over at Swatch. It's probably over for Omega and EON and what better time than now to have the Submariner return as the Bond watch?

So will we see the new Ceramic Sub on a Bond nato in installment 23? Only time will tell! (Sorry JJ)

I just did a quick photoshop job to see what a reteaming can potentially look like...

From what I understand Craig alays wears a Rolex when not promoting a James Bond movie... I read somewhere he was quoted as saying that "James Bond wears Omega's not me..." so it isn't unusual for him to be sporting a Rolex.

I'll be sad to see Omega leave Bond's wrist..

But i would be very surprised if it were Rolex again, unless Rolex drops it's policy about paying for product placement...

Bond's wrist will go to the Highest Bidder...could be seiko, could be Rado, could be Omega bidding high to renew the contract.

Remember the Brosnan bonds were almost completely funded by product placement, with financial issues still plaguing the studio I think that Money will ultimately motivate the decision, and I just can't see that coming from Rolex...It's not like they will need to spend millions on an ad campaign for the new Sub-c, a watch that is already flying off the shelves, and hasn't even be released yet!

As far as what Daniel Craig wants...he also wanted full frontal Bond and a homosexual affair for Bond, so let's not give him too much creative control.

(not that there's anything wrong with that)

Product placement in Bond movies is nothing new. Take a look at Moonraker sometime. One of the most blatant examples of product placement of any movie I've ever seen.

Great points everyone. Yes, the Sub-C will be highly sought after, but one can't deny the huge marketing opportunity Rolex has with Bond 23. Of course this is all speculation at this point.

I'm gonna be dead serious when I say that I'd very heavily disappointed if they put that stunning and gorgeous new SS Sub on a shi**y NATO strap.

Man, that would be pure, unadulterated, first-degree MURDER!!!

How the hell can any idiot even THINK of putting such a beautiful watch on some cheap, nylon thingy? That would really get me damn furious!!!

Well, they were stupid enough to do it in "Goldfinger" - and that too an 18 mm NATO on a 20 mm SUB lug!!

HAHA! I knew JJ would go crazy! Here is the million dollar question for you JJ, a really tricky one.

Would you rather have Bond wear the new SUB-C on nato or not have Bond wear a Rolex at all and keep the Omega?

Others believe it to be a 16mm NATO.
Milsubs were supposed to have solid bars in lieu of springbars.

Perfect timing OMEGA, no love loss there I am sure.

However, I suspect they will need an easy "suitcase" full of "Sub-C's" on set as they wont last a New York minute of violence typically filmed in a Bond picture !

In spirit of the movie, they should have just one watch, and show the damage as the movie progresses.

That would be a much more accurate progression in the movie.

Details lost.
Its all about "product placement" and it'll always be a 'fresh piece' that is shot...

Wow, that is awesome! I love natos, too! JJ, if you think about the Bond nato as a piece of cinema history and heritage, I'm sure you can forgive the fact that it is a $20 piece of nylon.
