I think if Flemming was alive and writing today Bond would wear a Exp II or a GMT IIc.

Bond and EXPII
Maybe the new ExpII release was delayed from to allow the release to be coordinated with the premier of the movie as the new Bond watch

I would prefer him to keep the Omega, they are more Bond like I think. If there is a new brand being announced I hope it is something different than Rolex, and (sigh) if it is Rolex, the new Explorer for sure!

Daniel Craig wearing a Rolex DSSD on an undersized woven striped nylon strap...showing at least a couple of mm's of the spring bars.

Bond should carry a Walther, drive an Aston and sport a Submariner.

Even if he was, he would more then likely NEVER reveal who he really is. He would probably take the name of Jason, or something else. I would also bet that he HAS in fact stumbled upon this site if he IS a true lover of Rolex (which no doubt he is). And, unless he does not own a computer, there is no reason to assume otherwise. As far as the 'bond watch", I wouldn't mind him going back to Rolex, however, Omega is a great choice as well IMO. Everyone says the classic Bond watch is the Sub (or the Epl.), and I would have to agree with that |

So pretty soon Bond would become a historic type character.....in that, the movies are always set in the past and always living in the past.
Nice.......... but not a sustainable way to continue THE most successful movie franchise in history. It would have run out of steam years ago IMO. These 2 newer movies are the way to go....stripping away all the silly gimmicks and focusing on the character.....and most importantly being RELEVANT today. The earlier movies were "of their time"and Bond should be "of this time" if the franchise is to maintain its momentum and relevance IMO. The redesigned 2011 Expy II would be a dream launch for Rolex in Bond 23......a link to Bond past BUT also bang up to date!!!!!......perfect!!!! This could also really help Rolex to market itself more successfully to younger groups of watch admirers IMHO LOL.....i think we are as passionate about Bond as we are about our Rolex watches around here!!!!! |

I can't wait to see what Bond chooses to wear and I hope it's a Rolex.

Very good quote, however, I think that Bond should chose a modern watch as well. I thought Omega was a great choice back in 95, I believe a Breitling would be a great choice for Bond 23, but that's just me, Rolex had its day when Bond first came out. I am hoping it wont be a Rolex but something more modern. |

Y'know, I really like Omegas, and I own a number of them, but Bond would never wear
an Omega. Somebody in that position would wear a tool watch, something that has proved bulletproof for generations. A Sub is a tool watch. A SD is moreso, but I doubt he would wear something the size of a tuna can or a hockey puck, so the SDDS would be out.
In the books, Bond used his Rolex as a set of brass knuckles. Think about it, does that say 'Omega' to you? |

I'd love to see Daniel Craig wear his personal 6538 on regimental NATO .....and why not, JB's always had/used the vintage Aston Martin.

So one can imagine that a Thread here with "James Bond" in the title would eventually get my attention. The word "Rumor" is used in conjunction with a source that's been interpreted as saying the next James Bond watch is gonna change from Omega. And the sourcing is attributed to my James Bond Watches Blog. Now, pleasant as this Thread has been to read (and by no means let my Post here derail that momentum), I need to straighten out assumptions drawn from what I wrote (if, in fact, it even continues to be a basis here). The meetings at Baselworld 2010 were with, um, "people in a position to know," who are more easily accessed at trade shows and conferences, of course, to review research of which I was a part to identify a heretofore unknown James Bond wristwatch from a 007 film that had already been made. The Living Daylights, 1987. Timothy Dalton wore a TAG Heuer (or perhaps just Heuer) 980.031 Professional Night-Diver wristwatch for his first appearance as James Bond 007 Now, while that doesn't exactly put a Rolex on the wrist of Daniel Craig for his next appearance post-Quantum of Solace, there is another Rolex angle to be considered. Many so-called experts have insisted, based purely on guesswork, that Dalton wore a Rolex Submariner Date in The Living Daylights because he wore one in his next film, Licence to Kill (1989). These TAG Heuer findings suggest he did not. Okay. Now we may return to your regularly scheduled Thread here.
