Is it acceptable to ask for a fair/reasonable discount to TRF trusted sellers?
Honest question..
I'm pretty non confrontational and self conscious about offending people or over stepping boundaries. That said, there is a reference I have my eye on that is getting somewhat close to retail plus tax. I have been saving for a bit, but am thinking about contacting some TRF trusted sellers with some offers. I'm not talking about those low ball idiots, but a fair and respectable offer. For example...say.... A watch listed for $11.4 and offering $11K? Have you guys found that they are rock solid on price or would it be acceptable to at least make an offer? I don't want to offend them or waste their time. Advice appreciated |

It never hurts to ask and nobody is offended if you do. Don’t over think it. It’s your money you are spending.

That’s is very reasonable and fair of an offer. If that offer was turned down I would pass, to be honest.

Can’t hurt to ask since it’s definitely not a lowball offer. I’ve bought many watches here and other sources where they accept a reasonable discounted offer. Good luck! Keep us posted

I would usually assume they by asking 11.4 they are banking on someone buying it for a counter offer of 11 anyway. Always always always £500 wiggle room with a feeble attempt of resistance from the dealer lol.

I almost always have asked. Never been an issue. I’m fairly use to haggling on things like that, pretty conscientious as well about not offending but to me it’s a business deal and some negotiating and haggling is called for. Lest of course the listing says firm.

A discount is paying lower than their costs and do not worry, the grey dealers here are still making a pretty penny either way you look at it.

Unless the offer really is lowball, nobody who’s in the sales game is going to be offended at all. In fact, I’m very confident most expect it and, as another has noted, price their pieces accordingly.

And yes, that's how it works. For example, I always negotiate even with the professional sellers who states that they not giving a discount. After that, even in their case, it turns out that the list prices are almost always set in such a way that there should be an opportunity for a good bargain, which makes both parties happy. To be honest, I enjoy this haggling more than the purchasing itself. |

No low balling is the best approach. If you make a reasonable offer I think that's fair. Everything is Negotiable, IMHO.

Offer them $9.5 and say a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.

OP it doesn't hurt to ask. I recently bought a watch from a trusted seller on TRF. And got a reasonable discount from the listing price. Wasn't much but it's appreciated by all means. GL OP!

It's a great question.
Some pieces we have some room, some we don't. We always appreciate fair offers, and never take offense when reasonable.

A respectful conversation on price is part of the buying and selling of watches should you choose. I have found that when I am going to negotiate it is best to be done in person or if not local, on the phone. If you have a price that you are comfortable with paying and are going to negotiate then come in a little lower and sometimes you will get that price. Other times, they will counter and move you up and it will be where you want. Good luck.

Given how Justrolexes, for example, prices watches 10-20% higher then market, id expect negotiation for sure

I'm a dealer and I am open to hear serious offers...all depends on my cost on the item on how flexible I can be on price.
