Many courses are westernized. They don’t let the Saudi citizenry and the westerners commingle in the tourist enclaves.

They aren’t going to let you jump in your car and wander around the countryside without permission. You’ll be in a resort area on your tourist visa.

Greg Norman wanted to screw over the PGA for 30+ years. Mission accomplished !

Golf ownership is complete, now they need F1 / FIA and FIFA. Then tennis, polo should be easy...

What a masterclass by the Saudi's. LIV was a Trojan horse from the jump. Clearly sportswashing.

I must admit, I never cared for LIV, and lost interest in PGA over the last ~decade. It became impossible to watch without talks of money on either tour. PGA has been jamming FedEx Cup points/money on viewers for years now. Less golf, more purse talk. I like golf, and couldn't care less how much PGA tour guys make.

Sad to see the PGA sell to Saudi government. Saudis are going to screw everyone out of their payday, they bait and switch everyone. Look at Greg Norman getting cut, no way shrewd business people want to frivolously hand out money. These are calculated moves to take over. Board governance is a facade. Jay got played, Rory and Tiger …played. Rory still living in his own head about good of the game and LIV going away. Painful to watch.

I am hoping that Tiger and others partner up and start their own tour and sponsors follow them out.

I haven’t watched much golf for years, but some. And now? Will be easy to flip channels right past golf to something else.

I just don't see how Tiger and other big names could start their own tour. If Tiger was still in his prime, possibly, but he can't even play right now. Tiger moves the needle, no other player has that power.

Plus, who would back this that can compete with Saudi money?

Elon is far too smart to jump into this dumpster fire.

How about Jeff Bezos, he seems gullible enough.

Golf... such a silly, self-important, self regarding game. Hope it all fails.
There, I said it.

You'll all be able to play it perfectly soon,....with your apple headset on.

And in other news... Lionel Messi chooses to spend the twilight of his career in Miami instead of in Saudi Arabia. Miami Beach is casual, fun, and carefree. Miami magic :)

Even Elon and Bezos cannot compete with Saudi money.

The estimated net worth of the House of Saud is 1.4 trillion dollars.

Tiger doesn’t need to play in this case imo he just needs to be the face/brand along with someone like Jack. Money should come from big sponsors like Nike. Time for them to put their money where their mouth is. Nike is far from ethical imo, but for them to start a tour it would allow them to have all the players wear Nike clothing. Prize sponsors could be the same as before on PGA. Out of principal if I’m Tiger or any of the other guys that LIV offered money to, I’m publicly calling out the new org if they don’t bend at my will. Besides requiring they give me the initial $400m. All that would be the cost for forgoing the rights to sue Jay directly for lost wages/personal brand damage. Jay better walk on eggshells. He used a non-profit for personal financial gain.

I still think you would run into a problem with TV contracts and ratings. This is LIVs issue. The PGA has contracts with CBS, NBC and ESPN through 2030.

Good points. They’d have to look to fox or maybe something unique like Amazon exclusive streaming. Only WWE has really been successful launching their own over the top network app for live events. Before selling the rights to Peacock.
