Will this price increase for jumbo be on the red gold model too?

I would like to own an AP Royal Oak at some point so would love to hear your thoughts. I have tried on the 15400ST but the size is too big for me so my options are 15202 or 15450.

Thanks!

I find the 15450 often wears too small at 37mm even though I only have a 6.75" wrist. The 39mm is still the most ideal size. Another problem with the 15450 is that it actually come across as "thicker" to me because the smaller diameter exaggerates the thickness of the case.

Might be too late. Unless OP is lucky, he will need to wait list and price could be adjusted up before he can get one. I guess that makes the 15202IP a bargain as well if they don't adjust the price.

Proportion on 15450 is more like 42mm ROO... and I love the RO to look like RO :)

Completely agree re: the 15450. Too thick for the diameter of the bezel. However, the movement is much better sized to the case, so there is that!

Big fan of the 15450...

As noted it all comes down to wrist size, wrist shape and personal taste. My wrist is 6.75". I had tried a 15300 and it fit well. At the time when they were at the AP boutiques I was not in a position to buy. Then the 15400 came out and when I finally was in a position to purchase it was WAY too big. Its flat shape swam on my wrist. I ended up purchasing the 15450 and could not be happier how it wears on my wrist. I have no problem wearing my 40mm Subs or Sea Dweller but the 15400 just looked goofy on my wrist. So I disagree with those that say the 15450 wears small and thick.

I love the 15202 and am currently considering getting one. But...the 15450 works very well for me. I have two and for smart wear, they are a great fit. I have taken pictures so that you can compare it to the Sea Dweller, the Daytona, and a Speedmaster Reduced.

Imho, It is a must to try on the 202 before you decide.

Proportions between the two may be similar and may be close but in this case a small difference can be quite big.

I very much like the historic movement of the 202.

if only the 15450 was thinner. the sweeping seconds hand makes me like it more than 15202.

Went with the fit for my 6.5 inch wrist. Started with the Jumbo, was ok because of its thinness but still a tad large, recuctantly moved it out. The 15450 fits me perfect as is, any thinner and it'd start wearing too small, ironic as that would be . . .

What’s your dilemma? You feel it’s too big? Looks fine from here.

completely agree.
but another model i have in mind (likely incoming) and the 5712 are too much overlaps.

the legendary status and sustained value of the jumbo is also a big part of the dilemma.

not to mention my wallet couldn't possibly sustain all 3.

So you have a 5711 on the way

Regardless you have one of those good problems.

probably a function of the proportions but I love the 15202 and really wasn't into the 15450. I generally like and have no issue with 36mm watches but the 15450 felt very too small. maybe it's the integrated bracelet and the look of it but a RO that size felt very jewelry-ish.

they are technically different, but in terms of occasion+wear, they do 'compete'... for me, at least.

(potential) incoming...

I am on a wait list for the 15450 but not the 15202. I am based in London and have been told to contact/visit a boutique for the 15202. I think my nearest one is Paris. It appears that London retailers do not have this model available anymore.

You need to go to the AP service center. Apparently it is in some sketchy alley

A friend was offered one by them just a month or two ago.

yep it is. Its the "lounge" technically. Its an appointment only boutique. That is where you need to go in the UK to get any boutique only model as well as most other hard-ish to get AP's.

Its in the alley near the Breitling boutique. Take a left at Breitling, a right on Avery Row, a left at watchfinder and you are there.

I rather go boutique in Geneva , you get the 15202 much quicker. The service is great and best of all you save money unless you claiming back UK VAT.
Better freebies too.... ROO Desk Clock vs Shoe Polishing Kit . Mind you I got good service in Dec in London in that I was able to get appointment at very short notice !

So I tried on the 15450 but unfortunately it’s a non-starter for me. The dial looks too small on my wrist plus the bracket with full links is tight on the wrist. I didn’t take a picture of the 15450 but I did try on a 15400 and a 26120 (39mm dual time) and took pictures of those.

Even though the 41mm fits my wrist it feels slightly larger than I would have liked -comparing it to the BLNR which is a perfect fit for me. I definitely prefer the 39mm size case.

With this in mind I would have to pick the 15202 over the 15450 despite the modern in-house movement and features. As discussed it really does depend on how comfortable it feels on the wrist, and the 39mm is just right for me.

Also have the 15300 at 39mm but used.
