new watch.

Picked up a G-Shock today.
While I doubt that I will wear it much, I have been wanting to join the G-Shock club for a while now.

Here are a few quick shots.

hard to beat for 60 dollars shipped.
Going to Mexico on vacation in a few weeks, so this will be my beater that goes with me.

The dial is some kind of dark olive color.

Yeah... it was the gadget factor for me, and I used the vacation as an excuse.

This the poor man's Breitling Aerospace.

USD 63 shipped and the band is shaped like a sport bike tire.
5 separate alarms, stopwatch, countdown timer, world time in 27 cities, snooze, perpetual calendar.

Can't beat that!
And the pushers are operational all the way to 600 ft down.

WOW!! Just 63 bucks to the end user....makes you wonder what that watch really cost the manufacturer to produce and then it also makes you wonder what the profit margin on such a watch would be?

Actually if you take away the shipping cost, it was on sale for 54 bucks.

I just could not help myself. Doubt that I will ever wear it, but the other forum I frequent got bit by the G-shock bug and I got infected. (along with Sam, Mike and a few other guys)

Nothing wrong with that one.
My accountant side always thinks, " How can they sell it for that price?"
Think about it, research, setting up the machinery, production, advertising , then add shipping from overseas, to your dealer, then the dealer even makes a profit in selling to you.
Unbelievable.
And it looks good too

Nice one, Chip. I've always loved Casios for their complications. Until I got bit by the Rolex bug, I used to wear this one all the time.

As for lasting a lifetime, it will last the battery's lifetime.

...you will miss 'the' time to be here....next week. Local AD has a one week special: all purchases are divided in 6 if you pay with Amex and you pay it over that time (1/6th every month). They are AD for Rolex, Cartier, Tag, Corum, Blancpain, Breguet, Longines, Movado, Omega, RW, Montblanc....and on and on and on....

That is a real beauty at a beautyful price! I went to the states to do some shopping last week and saw some G-Shock watches that connected to the atomic clock and automatically updated itself every day so the time is always dead on...

I have to check if we have those here in Canada yet as I am soreley tempted especially for under $100!

Our import duties are insane. And you know this is true when even when our dollar sucked against the greenback, it was still cheaper to pay the huge exchange and buy a luxury timepiece in the US and sneak it back in.

I bought a TAG Heuer Kirium (RIP) seven years ago in Jamaica for US$950 when the identical watch in Toronto was priced at CDN$2,600 plus 15% tax.

But we do have free healthcare!

I have a radio controlled solar powered G-Shock which is my travel beater, when I travel. I use it around the house as a beater too, but I am not confident of water resistance so I don't get it soaked. I replaced the polymer strap with a fabric Zulu type strap. That was an improvement.
