I posted about this the other day on the general forum, asking for more info on the event...of course Hodinkee was there to partake - I should've known a trip report would come through!

On that note, this was an event with mostly dealers, it seems. The rainbow daytona still has stickers - how many of you think that will be posted FS as BNIB /never worn in the future??

It was mostly collectors. Some dealers were there yes but most of them had their private collection with them.

A lot of those collectors happen to be dealers. It's a slippery slope.

Rainbow Daytona with stickers on
Looks like some cool stuff. Who goes to an event like that wearing a Lange or Heuer. I mean, I like both but good grief!

It was an amazing event, mostly private collectors.
For many it’s a reunion of friends; albeit a overwhelming one with too many watches to review in just one weekend!

Hey Mike, has The Passion morphed into this or is it a separate meting?

Never mind, I read the article. :)

The Passion gatherings were organised by Bernhard Bulang and Philipp Stahl in the Netherlands, and the Passion "brand" is Bernhard and Philipp's.

Rolliefest was the first get-together to be hosted in New York by a Passion attendee, so I guess any future events would be under that name, in the same way that the Bali get-togethers are Vintage Rolex Asylum (Indonesian) events.

But we're still just one big international brotherhood

This watch is from one of Hodinkee's pictures of the event. Can anyone tell me what it is? I love it.

TIA

Its a reference 5028 from around 1948, 36mm case, cool additional line of text.
I know this cos it was acquired by one of the Scottish contingent at the meet after looking for one for 15 years.

I’m not crazy on the name myself but it’s to do with the event organiser’s IG username “Manhattanrollie”

Cool! Thanks a lot for this info. Of course I'd be attracted to a watch that took some one else 15 years to find.

B wrote a great report describing the meetup. Really caught the essence of it.

Thanks for sharing the report. Bernhard's enthusiasm really shines through in the photos he took and in the article he wrote. I felt transported to the GTG itself! Really fantastic write-up. A must-read for any vintage Rolex collector.
