New to AP - any BS wait list like Rolex?

Being a rolex danboy for some time, have ventured into the space of AP.

Looking at this reference and is this easily obtainable? Or is there a wait list like Rolex?

Are the other dial choices besides blue that easy to come by these days?

It will depend to some degree on location as well

I am waitlisted at my local AD for the 15500ST with the grey dial since March this year.
The AD complains that they are getting less and less pieces allocated and AP is favouring the boutiques. So best shot is to go to a boutique near to you.

Your best bet is to visit the 2 boutiques located in Singapore and have a chat with them. ROs definitely have a wait list on them, gone are the days where you can walk in and see them on display. Rolex waitlist is definitely easier than AP followed by PP and then RM.

No there is still wait lists etc., and they pick and choose their clients. But it seems to me grey and black dials are in less demand in comparison to blue dial.

Depend who you deal with. Most of the time, AP is more transparent then Rolex ADs

Obtainable, but probably longer than that. But as mentioned previously, it depends on location.

I got my grey 15500 in the US back in June after waiting 4 months.
I was at the Geneva boutique in June, and they told me 1 year for the grey and the black, and much longer for the blue.

Unless you can bundle the Singapore boutiques will tell you to come back next year

I'm not even sure if bundling will work, I'm not in a position to do it so didn't go down that path with them

Yes the wait lists are BS at the AD's just like Rolex. The true company owned stores are better to the clients and can get you watches if you are persistent.

Yes there are waitlist for in demand models, but from my experience they do come up.

I bought my 15400ST about a year ago walked in and picked it up. My buddy waited about 1 year for a 15202ST ordered in 2017.

Browsing the net for cases of waitlist in other industries I came across this case: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/new...-sold-his-car/

Wonder if you can pursue ADs for damages if you put a deposit for a spot but then the AD sells to another client.

Top tip - Go to your nearest boutique in person on January 2nd. That is when they get allocation numbers for 2020.

I heard about that too. How does it work?

I went to the boutique and the sales lady isn't the most friendly, told me that they have stopped accepting orders for it.

Found another sales contact through a friend and he told me to come by again and he will put me on the interest list.

Boutiques generally knows their allocation for the new year in December to January. They then get allocated to clients and if you’re selected they will usually ask you for some deposits unless you’re vvip.

I see. Different practice from Rolex, as the Ads wouldn't know what gets allocated to them and they will only know when the watches arrive.

I'm aiming for either the 37mm or 41mm grey dial. Hopefully that gives me a better chance

Should be much more attainable than some of the more popular Rolex sports... hit up an AP owned boutique and go from there!

AP is trying to play the same game as Rolex. Like a girl playing hard to get. Having said that, the grey should be easier compared to the blue. Also, having just won the GPHG, you can be sure FHB will try to make it even harder to get base model pieces. As the saying goes, the hardest to get are the non limited edition pieces because AP makes so many limited edition pieces. Go to MBS, talk to them and ask politely. Fingers crossed and good luck!

I would guess conservatively 95% of AP buyers have never heard of gphg. If you want a 15500 or the like just buy an offshore first. Your RO will come within 6 months.

But that doesn’t mean that FHB will not use the opportunity to educate 95% of his customers and use that as a leverage to bundle watches just to get a 15500

Went to the Liat Towers and got served by a very friendly sales person. He has put me on the interest list for next year's shipment.

Tried in both the 41mm and 37mm. I have a 6.25inch wrist.

I find that the 37mm is abit small for my liking. Decided to go for the 41mm

Congrats! No need for bundling. They will call you when they know the allocation to ask for a deposit. After securing it with the deposit paid, you should have it within a few mths.

The sales person told me that the first shipment for 2020 will come in Feb or March. He will o ly know what's coming a few days before the arrival. There will be shipments once a month.

Different practice as what you have mentioned earlier about knowing the entire allocation for the year.

Went to my AD locally (owned by the same firm that owns a Boutique) and inquired about the 15500. He told me he had sold his 2019 allocation and had enough people on this wait list to sell out 2020 and 2021 also even if he gets as many watches in those years as he has in the past. So I bought used at over retail.
