Rolex 1680 case with weird bezel

Hi - I picked up a Rolex submariner 1680 recently. It came with a bezel and insert. The bezel looks unusual to me, the groves around the bezel edge look pointed and come very close to the inserts outer edge. They usually have a scalloped shape to them. This could be heavy wear, I'm not sure. What are your thoughts?

Also the bezel is pretty easy to take off by hand, a small twist at either end and it pops off.

If this is not off a Rolex, could it be off this Tudor I have pictured below, they look very similar.

That assembly looks way too thick and the bezelteeth aren’t looking gen like too. Wrong shape.

I‘d say it’s a fake bezel (-assembly) but experts will tell you soon.

Maybe you can shoot a side pic when disassembled to clarify.

I will also add the bezel insert was shaved in order to fit this bezel, so the bezel does appear to not be a rolex part. I am just curious as to what watch this originally came from. I have since sourced a 1680 correct bezel and insert.

Despite being reshaped, is the bezel insert worth anything given it appears to be original?

I would not assume it came from another model like a Tudor.

My point is that watch part makers have fabricated generic bezels, inserts, pips, crowns, tubes, crystals, etc. Omega and Rolex parts have been their bread and butter for decades.

What you may have there is a bezel that was made to serve as a generic replacement part for a Submariner.

If that is a handmade generic part, whoever made did an amazing job!

Obviously not correct for the reference, so might as well find another

I have found another at a reasonable price, it was just a shame about the insert being reshaped slightly. it still fits very well in a rolex correct bezel, with no visible gap abound the edge, so it looks fine.

The watch had some trauma across the crystal which may explain the replaced bezel, perhaps it was bend in an impact.

Is the insert something of any worth, despite it being altered slightly?

It mounts and it works but to a collector it isnt a factory piece. I doubt there is any real value other than as a conversation piece.

Indeed, Rom.
OP. I'm very confused. This is the same watch (you can tell by the crystal) that you claimed you missed-out on, and then asked a lot of questions about restoring, all the while saying you missed-out, and didn't buy. Care to explain?
