Tudor Ranger Dial & Hands Water Damaged - Before & After
Hi Guys,
I know some of you enjoy it when I share what has made its way across my workbench. I recently had a vintage Tudor Ranger come in. The dial had really bad water damage, not to mention the rusted movement. The old luminous compound just blew right off the dial as its integrity had been compromised. I did the best job I could of re-luming the dial and hands so they look period correct. It's such a shame when things like this have to be done, but sometimes we have no choice. It looks great! Regardless of the shame in it having to come to that, you did a fantastic job keeping it looking like it would have from that period in time.

Thats really good and it needed to be done. There is aging and there is damaged, this clearly fell into the latter.

That looks REALLY, REALLY good! And a genuine Ranger is probably as rare as hen's teeth so it's good that you restored it so nicely.

Not yet, as I haven't finished the movement. I will this week though and I'll follow it up with a few before and after shots.

Nice to see a vintage specialist is available in the Ottawa area. I’d love to visit your shop sometime Ashton.
Good fortune to you!

This is a great save! Did you replace the entire movement since it was rusted?

No, no movement exchange here. It was restored back to that condition with much elbow grease.

Excellent work for a beautiful watch that was heavily heavily used/abused. Great save!

Nicely done! Did you reuse the old lume in the new application or was it all fresh lume, just tinted?
is the new crystal domed or beveled? do you know the part number for the crystal?> |
