Watch Porn!

5 minutes spare yesterday so grabbed a few pieces for some movement shots - only using my iPhone so they lack a bit in focus and lighting! I will get the macro camera and tripod out soon for more hardcore photos!

Patek 5370P - CHR 29-535 PS movement

Lange Datograph Lumen - L951.7 movement

By way of comparison.

Patek 5711 - 324 movement

Patek 5131R - 240 movement

Imagine being able to assemble those, what a day job that would be, if you kept your sight!

Nice pictures

It is obvious from the photos that CHR 29-535 PS has a better finish compared to 240 HU or 324 SC

Indeed, I think it is clear from other photos I have seen that the CHR is superior to the CH! GaryG has done some wonderful shots.

I have also noted that finishing of CHR is superior to that of CH

It is very interesting as once I read that Larry Pettinelli had mentioned in an interview that every Calatrava had the same amount of finish as a minute repeater!

Those are really beautiful shots of some beautiful "engines."

Kinda makes the idea of paying 80 grand for a 5711 seem a bit, shall we say, over the top.

Russell, I know this is difficult but which movement do you prefer purely aesthetically?

Both the CHR 29-535 PS and the L951.7 are amazing to look at, either to the naked eye or through a glass.
I wouldn't particularly choose between them, similar in so many ways and yet also there are so many clear differences:

CHR 29-535 PS - the Patek is possibly slightly finer and this can be seen in the thinness of parts - movement 29.6mm x 7.1mm - case 41mm x 13.56mm

L951.7 - the Lange uses blued screws and german silver which adds an extra degree of colour - movement 30.6mm x 8.1mm - case 41mm x 13.4mm

As you can see the two pieces are very similar in size, although of course the Patek is a Rattrapante as opposed to simply adding the large feature date of the Lange.
