New Seiko in the Family

I just took delivery of an SKX007. I'm impressed.

Congrats. If Omega is known as one of the best 'Bang for your Buck' brands, then I think Seiko should be known as the best 'C4 Explosion for your Buck'. Seiko's are truly amazing watches IMO and the build quality blows me away when you consider their overall price point. Seiko's are usually my first recommendation to people looking to get a built-proof automatic divers watch but don't want to break the bank. Congrats again on a great choice...now lets see some pics!!!

Matte dial, red print, applied indices....what's not to like? It's a poor man's red sub!

Exactly. And the action/feel of the bezel mechanism has always blown me away...it feels like something that you would expect to find on a watch costing a couple thousand, not a couple hundred!

The bezel feel is perfect.

It's definitely going to get some salt water time.

If you guys don't have a Seiko SKX diver to go along with your Rolex(es), definitely get one. This watch is the real deal.

It looks nice. I see it says "automatic" on the dial. Is it an automatic mechanical watch?

Yes, it is a non-hacking, non-handwinding automatic.

That's cool. I've always known Seiko watches to last forever. My father bought one for a few dollars thirty years ago and it still runs.

Nice pick up Ed! A great watch, regardless of price. I can't think of a better bang for the buck watch.

I've been thinking about doing a mod or two. I could see a milsub dial and mercedes hands.

Seiko has a long and proud history of mechanical watchmaking.

It's a regular mechanical automatic, just like my Sea-Dweller.

As a follow-up, I've been playing with straps. So far my favorite is the plain-jane black Maratec NATO. Maybe if the stock rubber strap softens up I will use it.

i read somewhere that people shape the rubber strap by boiling it.
