Datejust II Thoughts Bought from an AD

First time Rolex buyer here. I recently visited a local AD. I tried on a ton of Rolex watches (Explorer, Explorer II, Milgauss, Datejust 36, Sub, GMT) from 36mm up through my current one I decided on. The salesperson was extremely helpful, and I had additional salespeople give their thoughts on what really looked the best on my arm. I asked if they could come off the $9,100 price, and they would not budge. Is this normal for a now discontinued watch? I'll admit, I love the watch and this one really sang to me when I put it on. As a first time buyer, I wanted to go through an AD. It's mine now, and I love it. Thoughts?

Most DJII's are currently being sold on the forums at a discount to retail and to the DJ41...

But the AD route does buy peace of mind. An if the model you bought can't be found elsewhere, then AD is the only option, no? Congrats and lets see a pic!

Mayors, Tara, or Brown & Co? I dont feel like they will discount going into the holiday season. Shortage on SS models therefore less opportunities for sales. They are trying to maximize profits right now. Not discount. Now if you were buying a PM piece. Then without a doubt there would be a discount.

They didn't. Last sentence from OP says he bought it.

Hey, if you are happy enjoy it and don’t fret whether you got a discount or not. MSRP is not the end of the world compared to 50% premiums from greys for some models.
I bought a sub date at AD at MSRP, no sales tax to gift to a dear friend and didn’t flinch.
