G t swiss t g

Hello, All:

I recently saw a Rolex posted on the local CL, its a DJ 15000. The markings on the dial of the watch have intrigued me. The bottom of the dial is marked "G T SWISS T G". The "G" is in Caps. In researching the model, I could not find any pictures of it with this inscription. I searched the web and it did not help me get any smarter about this issue either.

Can anyone please shed some light on what this mean?

Thanks in advance!

The vintage forum would be the place for this question, but I'm pretty certain that what you are reading as a "G" is really a lower case, Greek delta.

I don't remember what that means, which is why you should ask on the vintage forum.

This may help:
1967 – 1983, The matte dial with tritium luminous got introduced by Rolex. We see tritium signings variations like T Swiss T<25 or
σ T-Swiss-T σ.

You know what, I think you're right. I looked at it closely (almost giving myself a headache) and it does look like Greek delta. I will look at it closely with a loupe later today. Also, I think I know what that means, it probably means that the markers (and possibly the hands) are made of some precious metal. It should be white gold in the case of the watch in question.

I will move the post to the vintage forum as suggested.

Thanks much!!

I have nothing that's clear unfortunately. I was told on the regular Rolex discussion page that it possibly is the Greek Sigma signifying the use of precious metals in the markers and hands.....

The 15000 should be a 'Date', not a 'Datejust'.

PS, your other thread on this has been merged into one.

If I remember correctly, that indicates gold markers.

Thanks and you're right, Date, not DJ!

So I examined the dial with a loupe last night and GradyPhilpott was correct. It is the sigma dial and what I thought was "G" is in fact "σ". i believe this means the markers and hands are white gold!

Thanks everyone for all your insight!
